Frances P. Metts

frances metts
Frances Patricia Boyle Metts passed into the Lord's hands on June 3, 2011. Born at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and raised in Hawaii and Washington DC before returning to San Antonio, Frances is survived by her three children, Allison Metts Reichenau, Alan Metts and Alana Metts-Smith, along with four grandsons: Luke Douglas, Seth Patrick, Zachary Mark and Caleb Matthew, a granddaughter: Bella Francesca Katerina, and her twin brother, Leo Boyle. She is preceeded in death by her loving husband Earl Allen Metts, Jr. and her sisters. During Earl's service in the Air Force, Frances and her family lived in Japan. This experience fed a lifelong love of all cultures and she was fortunate to travel extensively for both business and pleasure. Passionate and compassionate, Frances began her career as a dispatcher for the San Antonio Police Department, transitioned into teaching and later was an esteemed businesswoman, owning her own business for many years. Later in life, she was a proud supporter of various charities near to her heart, and most recently held the title of Queen within the charitable organization Daughters of the Nile (Nekodah Temple 44) an affiliation of the Shriner organization. Through her many associations, Frances met and made many friends over her lifetime. Those who knew Frances knew of her love for dance - she was an ardent participant in the Alamo Area Square and Round Dance Association where she and Earl served as Presidents of the San Antonio chapter. Square and round dance led to her association with the Cadance Cloggers of San Antonio and she performed both internationally and locally, including such local events as Fiesta and the Texas Folklife Festival. Frances was a vibrant light that will be missed and leaves behind a legacy of inspiring those around her to live life to its fullest. A memorial service will be held at the Alzafar Shrine Temple, 901 N. Loop 1604 West, on Saturday, June 18th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Shriners Hospitals for Children. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for your outpouring of love, blessings and well wishes.

  9. I met and grew to love Frances thru our membership in Daughters of the Nile. I was Queen in 2008 and helped mentor her as she moved thru the chairs. She always gave 100% in all her endeavors and she with Earl by her side gave of themselves to our organization. She was a kind, giving and spiritual being and I am devastated by her passing and will miss her every day. God give her family the strength to carry on.

  10. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Frances. I knew both her and Earl while he was stationed at Security Hill. Even though I lost track of her in the later years, I have many fond memories of her. She was truly an angel. May you rest in peace my dear friend. My deepest sympathy is extended to the Metts family. May the Lord comfort you during this very difficult time.
