Garlon Everett Davis, age 74, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010. He was born October 7, 1935 in Caldwell County Texas. He was the second child born to the late Henry and Odessa Davis. Garlon was preceded in death by his brother James and sister Gladys Davis.
He is survived his son, Garlon Davis, Jr. and daughter, Chavella Martin; brothers, Henry O. Davis, Jr.and his wife Geraldine, Marvin E. Davis and his wife Judy of San Antonio, Texas and his sister Patricia Ann Martin of Los Angeles, California.
Garlon moved to Los Angeles in 1960 and relocated to San Antonio in 1993 after retiring from Briar Neckwear Company. He was an accomplished vocalist who teamed up with local popular musicians such as Spot Barnett, Bud Harper, Benny Easley and many others. His most successful recordings were "Betty Jo", "I'm Begging You", and "True Confessions". Garlon took the opportunity to showcase his talent abroad.
Garlon was baptized at an early age and grew up at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of the late Rev. Rufus Wilson. Garlon was a 1953 graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School. He was a loving person who showed his love for everyone. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
