Gloria I. Jackson

On Wednesday morning, October 21, 2015, heaven gates opened wide to welcome one of God's loved ones, Gloria Isobel Jackson at the age of 91 wonderful years. Gloria Isobel Jackson, was born to Benjamin and Marie Jackson on March 24, 1924 in Evanston, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Gloria was the fourth born of seven children. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father and her six siblings. She started her education at Foster Elementary School and then attended Evanston Township High School. She attended the Central YMCA Community College in Chicago and later in life she briefly returned to school in San Antonio, Texas. As a young woman, she was an active member of Bethel A.M.E. church in Evanston, Illinois, where her mother served as deaconess and she later joined the Ebenezer A.M.E. Church where she served until 1979. Sis. Jackson moved to San Antonio, Texas and made Emmanuel A.M.E. Church her church home. Gloria was a hard working person who held various positions and titles throughout her careers in Cosmetology, Accounting, Bookkeeping, and Retail Sales. However, none was more important to her than the title of Mother. Family always came first for her and she didn't hesitate to put the needs of her children before her own desires or career goals. Gloria was a mother to eight children; Emarie, Thomas, Geri, Walter, Susan, Craig, Keith and Brian. In addition she also extended her love to many of the children in the neighborhood; some of whom came for extended stays in the family home along with her own children. She was Grandmother to Lisa, Sharon, Katrina, Craig Jr., Carlton, Torrey, Latasha, Shonda, Brianna, Anthony, Michael, Joseph and Aaliyah. She was Aunt to Carolyn, Bobby, Peggy and Samuel, Randolph; Sherwin Brown and Theodore Haliburton. Gloria Isobel Jackson, was an exceptional woman with many family members and friends who loved her and will truly miss her deeply.
