Gregory Alan Beverly, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born on August 25, 1955, in San Antonio, Texas, to James Arthur Beverly and Allaree Harvey Beverly. He was the second of three children. He accepted Christ at an early age at New Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev J. Carlton Allen. Later he moved to Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev Emmit Smith.
Gregory grew up in San Antonio and was an outstanding scholar. He graduated from Sam Houston High School where he played football, baseball, and ran track. Gregory played various instruments, but the drums were his favorite. Following his graduation, he married his childhood sweetheart, Marvinette, and they had two beautiful daughters during that time.
Gregory proudly served his country in the United States Army and after his service, he pursued an aviation career with Swearingen Aviation as an Aircraft Mechanic. He then worked in Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base as a Machine Tool Operator. During his career in Civil Service Gregory served as a Union Steward, representing Union Members, facilitating communication between employees and management while advocating for worker’s rights. Upon leaving Civil Service Gregory pursued a career as a truck driver – a profession he truly loved. His work allowed him to travel across the country, and he cherished the freedom of the open road.
Gregory was a family man and had a deep passion for life’s simple joys. He loved dogs, enjoyed fishing, was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, could often be found watching western movies, and enjoyed working on cars. His sense of humor, love for family, and quiet strength will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur Beverly and Allaree Harvey Beverly, and his sister-in-law, Mary Beverly. He is survived by his loving daughters, LaTrice Bourama and her husband Lati, and Tiffany Beverly; cherished grandchildren, Noelle L. Bouraima and Jeremiah I. Bouraima; and his five “granddogs,” Bailey, Diesel, Chewbacca “Chuey,” Chance, and Brinley. He also leaves behind his brother, Charles A.
Beverly, his sister, Cheryl D. (Oscar) Ibana, and his significant other, Barbara Nettles, along with a host of family and friends.
Gregory’s life was defined by service, love for family, and a spirit of independence. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
