Howard A. Ball, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on March 15, 2025. He was born on March 23, 1944, in Ecru, Mississippi to Rome and Mary Ann Ball. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Howard’s life was marked by his devotion to God, his family, and his country.
Howard met his future wife, Ruth M. Ball, at church in Illinois, and they were married for 54 years. Together, they built a life full of love, faith, and service. 7. Glennie McCurty says:
To Ball Family, it was quite a shock to learn of my friend’s Howard death. I was aware of his battle for life, but I was one his many cheerleaders, hoping that he would pull through. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. Those of you who knew Howard, knows that he was a very good man, and was always willing to help you if he could. Like so many of his love ones, I’m going to miss him too! To the family, please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss as you go through this difficult time of grieving and healing. Mrs Ball, I wish that I could take away your pain or somewhat ease it, but I know that I can’t. However, if I can be of any assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I can be reached at: (210)- 564-8814.

  8. CandleImageTo be absent from the body allows us to be present with the Lord, I happened to be at Cherry Creek Baptist in Ecru Mississippi when I heard the news about Howard’s transition. It was surprising; however, I became close to my Great Uncle Rome and my Aunt Mary Ann before they transitioned to be with the Lord, so I know where Howard came from. His life was built on a firm foundation. He carried out his duty as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, cousin, duty to his country, and all his other relationships including his commitment to God well. Ruth, I absolutely know you will miss him, but don’t lose hope. Howard demonstrated he had love for his family. As a Pastor I never tell people not to cry, when you love somebody like Howard who had an impact on your life it hurts. The God we serve will even help us in our grief. Family all of you have my love. If you need me, I will do the best I can. I uplift you in prayer to our Almighty God!
