Ida Ana Alferez

Ida Ana Perez Alferez was granted her angel wings on January 30, 2016 at 68 years of age. A woman of Catholic faith who always thought of the well-being of others before her own, she awaited her homecoming peacefully, content that she had fulfilled her life's mission, surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. Born in El Paso, Texas, she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, later graduating from Hotel Dieu Nursing School as a Registered Nurse. In El Paso, she worked for 13 years at Thomason General Hospital before moving to Midland, Texas where she worked for 20 years as a nurse at Midland Memorial Hospital. Shortly after moving to San Antonio, Texas, she began her valiant 13 year battle with Multiple Myeloma, always maintaining a positive and courageous attitude. Her remaining days were spent under the loving care of her son and a multitude of caring healthcare workers and doctors for which she was grateful. Her life would seem too short to those who are asking for "just one more day" with her, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time. Although she was of very strong character, her gentle smile and religious nature brought so much joy to her family, reminding them of how precious life is and the importance of maintaining good values and a relationship with God. Ida is survived by her loving children, Tony Alferez of San Antonio and Ana Alferez-Hopton with husband Steve of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; her siblings are Hector Perez with wife Irene of El Paso, Martha Guzman with husband Jesus of Dallas and Rogelio Perez with wife Clara of Houston. Her nieces are Linda Nadler and Monica Ida Pahigiannis with husband Derek of Brooklyn, New York and Marisa Perez of Houston. Her nephews are Danny Perez and Michael and Anderson Nadler, all of Houston. Her grandchildren are Erin Alferez and Alan Helt.
