J.J. "Pinky" Davis, 85, went to be with the Lord on June 18th, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas. Pinky was born on Easter Sunday, April 5th, 1925 in Holden, Louisiana to Londy and Annabelle Menger Davis. He graduated from Freer High School and Texas A and I University with a Degree in Oil and Gas Engineering. Pinky proudly served his country as a US Marine during World War II working with the Navajo Indian code talkers. Pinky was loved and respected for 60 years as he worked in the South Texas oil fields. Pinky married Esther Ruth Johnson, the love of his life on May 4th, 1951. Together they raised two sons, Guy (Meli) and Michael and a daughter, Denise Davis. A granddaughter, Jennifer Robinson and her two children, Cody and Katy also survive. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:30 PM, Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010 at the Meadowlawn Tribute Center, 5415 E. Houston St. San Antonio, Texas 78220. In lieu of flowers, send love to your family or a donation to your favorite charity.


My thoughts and sympathies are with the family, and I am sure that he left an empty place in the world with his departing, however timely it may have been.

Dear Ruth and family, we are so sorry for your loss, but happy for the many years yow enjoyed and loved Pinkie. He was a fine man and friend. We know he will be lovingly welcomed to heaven by Lee and Ruth. What fun you two couples had together.

Dear,Ruth,Mike,and rest of the family,we were saddened to hear of Pinky’s passiing we met at the Javelinafootball games we were so delighted to be in Section D row 12 seat 27 & 28 in fronmt of row 13 and seat 27 &28 looked forward to seeing you each year, then our Ms. Ruth had her stroke and then it was Pinky in failing health, but we made a point of coming by at to visit you in at the nursing home, which was sad and now Pinky is gone and Ruth has moved to S.A. but I’m hearing good things about you doing some walking with some help.But we will certianly miss Pinky, we pray God will comfort you as only He can.
