James "Bert" E. Bowie

James "Bert" Edward Bowie was born April 4, 1945 to Luther Bowie and Nicey Lee Hockley of San Antonio, Texas. He was the tenth child of fifteen children. "Bert" as he was affectionately called, attended schools in the San Antonio Independent School District. He worked for Columbia 300 for 36 years until his retirement. Bert was known for his dapper dress and his infectious smile. He never met a stanger. James was united in Holy Matrimony to Betty Jean Strait and to this union three children were born. His daughters, Jennifer and Betty Jean preceded him in death, along with his parents. James "Bert" leaves on earth his wife, Betty Jean Bowie; son, James Edward Strait and his wife Rachel; granddaughter, Olivia Diane Strait; sisters, Betty Saunders and Annette Hemphill; brother, Robert Bowie and his wife Bobbie along with a host of nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
