James Willard Richards

James W. Richards, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born on June 7, 1928 in Winfield, Kansas. He was one of 13 children born to Trevy M. and Eunice O. Richards. He grew up during the Great Depression, moving from town with his family as his father's work dictated. He left home at the age of 15 working at numerous dairy farms. He graduated from high school and attended Central College in McPherson, Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served six years. He became a Civil Service employee at Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX reaching the Grade of GS-11, Step 12 as a Procurement Management Analyst and retired in 1983. James is survived by his beloved wife (Favorite Lady) of 37 years, Lillie M. Richards, sons; James L. Richards, David A. Richards, and Robert D. Richards, step sons; Duane E. Dinan and Randal G. Dinan, step-daughter's; Kathleen E. Dinan-Mireles and Laura M. Dinan Karsch and sixteen grandchildren, sisters; Lois Bogner, Winfield, KS. Nell B. Lark, Springfield, MO., brother; Deryl Richards, San Antonio, TX. And by many nephews and nieces. A private memorial service will be held later with his ashes being spread over the graves of beloved pets under a cluster of Live Oak Trees on family property. James will always be remembered as a good husband, very good father and extremely intelligent and loving kind man. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to Dr. Brandon Bolfing and Staff and the Odyssey Hospice team for taking such extremely excellent care of him and family.
