November 13, 1940 ~ January 12, 2018
Jean Childs Stewart passed away January 12, 2018 surrounded by her family and while being lifted in prayer by many who loved her. Jean was born in Kingsville on November 13, 1940 to her parents E.S and Violet Childs, and was a loving sister to her siblings Dorthella May and Marvin Childs, who all preceded her in death. Jean is survived by her children Sharlot Johnston of San Antonio, Shelly Woolley (Douglas) of New Braunfels, Scott Stewart (Laurie) of New Braunfels, and Shawna Greenway (Matthew) of Richmond, California. She was blessed by her grandchildren Grayson Stewart (Alyssa), Alex Johnston, Joshua Stewart, Amber Stewart, Austin Johnston, Stewart Woolley, Sydney Stewart, Madeline Greenway, and Jack Greenway. She was thrilled to welcome great grandson Archer Stewart into the family on November 21, 2017. She is also survived by nephews CE May, Jr., Steven May, Mike Childs, Larry Childs, and nieces Theresa Perrier and Pam Smith, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Jean graduated from H.M. King High school in 1959 and attended Texas A & I University. She spent her lifetime serving the community of Kingsville through her work at Christ United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge, and the Womens Club of Kingsville. Some of her greatest and proudest civic accomplishments were working with the Womens Club organization, whether it was fundraising for the club and various charities, dancing and singing in The Follies, or being involved with the Bluebonnet Drama Club. Jean served many leadership roles in the club throughout the years, including AWARE Department Secretary (2004), Chairman of AWARE Department (2007 & 2010), Co-Chairman of Designs for a Cure (2008 & 2010), and Club President (2010-2012). She spent her professional life in real estate and the title business in both Kingsville and San Antonio, finally retiring from Kleberg County Title in 2015, where she helped educate many young realtors, real estate contractors, loan officers, landowners, and homebuyers along the way. Jean was lucky to have an amazing group of lifelong friends who brought her much joy. She was a second mother to many of her childrens friends, who spent much time in her home growing up. She loved to laugh, dance, offer her opinion, and have a good time. More than anything in the world, she adored her children and grandchildren, and was the greatest mother anyone could ask for! She will be missed by many who loved and respected her. During her tenure as President of the Womens Club of Kingsville, her chosen motto for the club was Life isnt about waiting for the storm to pass; its about learning to dance in the rain and we find solace in the fact that her storm has passed and she is rejoicing in Heaven with friends and family who have gone before her. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 27, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Kingsville at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church Fellowship Hall.

I know Jean is dancing in Heaven! My sincerest condolences to her family and so many who loved her. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers for Jean and her wonderful family, she was indeed a wonderful and beautiful person. I will always remember her as being the ‘cool’ mom, she put up with a lot of kids and shenanigans. Laughter at the Stewarts was common with many fun memories! I hope knowing that she is dancing and laughing in heaven brings peace in the hearts of her loved ones. Love y’all
What a beautifully written tribute to a lovely lady. How blessed you all are to have sweet memories to hold dear. Know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sorry I live so far away and can’t be there to celebrate your mother’s life with you.
Beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady. She was always a trailblazer and leader. Jean was the Friend you could go years without talking or seeing and when you two got together you picked up like you had talked the day before.
She earned many’s respect in her decision to be mother and father to her children, where her children were always first in her life.
No one can ever fill her shoes and I will miss that mischievous grin she had that was just like her dads.
I was so lucky to be one of her clients when we bought our first house. She was so graceful and lovely in her own special way that I felt so at ease through that process. I was surprised, although I really shouldn’t have been, that she knew my mom and spoke highly of her. This just sealed the deal for our friendship. I even got the chance to worship with her at FUMCK, and will always cherish her and her sense of humor. My deepest codolences to Jeans family during this time. But I agree, it’s good to know she is in heaven singing, dancing and laughing.
Our deepest sympathy for all of you
My condolences for your loss and prayers!

I’m so sorry for your loss. Philippians 4:6,7
