John E. Sanchez, Sr.

john sanchez, sr.

June 9, 1947 ~ July 20, 2020

John E. Sanchez Sr. went to be with our Lord Monday, July 20, 2020 at the age of 73. He was born June 9, 1947 in San Antonio, TX. He is preceded in death by his son, Arthur “Lou” Sanchez; granddaughter, Mia Sanchez; parents, Margarita and Juan Sanchez; sister, Yolanda Martinez and brother, Oscar Sanchez. John is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Irene Palacios Sanchez; children, Patricia Martinez (Roger Sr.), John Sanchez, Jr. (Lisa), Tillie Sanchez, Lillie Avila (Tomas); 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren with 2 on the way;sister, Sylvia Duarte; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. John was a retired truck driver (UPS) and loved his profession, especially his time running a team with his son Lou. He loved spending time with his family and firing up the pit for some barbeque and conjunto, tejano or oldies. John was known to most as grandpa and lovingly accepted the endearing term. He would help anyone he could and welcomed everyone into his home. He spent his time either sitting in his favorite chair in the kitchen or sitting outside at his picnic table. His favorite past time was making memories with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would pick the granddaughters up from school (sometimes early and without permission) and always got them a snack. John’s heart was for his family. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. His joking and fun personality will never be replaced and his memory will live forever in our hearts.

  7. CandleImageIt’s been a while my old man!! I miss you dearly, days pass by and i still feel like there’s a part of me missing. i’m officially 18 gpa, im in college in New York, can you believe that!?!?! im coming back home in December though, this isn’t the place for me. I miss you so much, words can’t describe how much i need one of your talks at this moment to tell me everything is going to work out. i juss miss your voice saying “aubi can you get me another one.” i miss your hugs, i miss your laugh, i miss juss seeing you in the chair in the kitchen and your face lighting up as soon as i walked into the house. I sometimes still struggle with walking into the house knowing the house is dark and there isn’t a smile at the end of the house as soon as i walked in from you. i miss you dearly gpa!!!
