John Joseph Maynard "Jack", age 67, resident of San Antonio, Texas went to be with our Lord on April 18, 2015. Born August 11, 1947 to Newman and Dolores Maynard in Floresville, Texas. He spent most of his childhood in Middletown, New York and the East Coast before settling in San Antonio, Texas after his marriage to Olga Mesa Maynard. He worked most of his career with the Bass Family in San Antonio, Texas until he retired in December 2014. John served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and is a Vietnam Veteran. He was a proud American who lived a humble life. He was a devoted family man with strong Christian values. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, building race cars, racing, and traveling. Survivors include his longtime wife, Olga Mesa Maynard of 44 years. His children Laura L. Johnson (Michael), Doris A. Hernandez (Leon Jr.), Valarie M. DeLaFuentes (Robert), Janet M. Maynard, Newmen L. Maynard (Rachelle), Justa M. Garcia (Robert), special nephew Robert Carter, 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild who he loved dearly. He also leaves behind many special Brother and Sister in Laws and nieces and nephews from the Mesa family as well as many special friends who were like his second family. His siblings Justa Carter and brother James Maynard. He is preceded in death by his parents Newman Lee Maynard and Dolores Garcia Maynard, Aunt Sulemma Charles, and nephew James "Jimmy" Maynard. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 29 at the MeadowLawn Funeral Home, 5611 E. Houston SA, TX 78220. Visitation starts at 4 p.m. and a Rosary will follow at 6 p.m. On Thursday, April 30 a last blessing will be given at 10:15 a.m. at MeadowLawn Funeral Home. A funeral procession will depart at 11 a.m. for burial services at 11:30 in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome at the services.
His smile, handshake, hug, and warm embrace will be forever missed. Until we meet again, John Joseph Maynard.

My sweet Daddy, words cannot even describe how much I love and miss you. My heart breaks to see how much your grandchildren miss you. I know they meant everything to you. I am so sorry for your loss. A big loss I know. Jack was one-of-a-kind. It was such a pleasure knowing him. When I went out to the tire shop I could always count on a big smile and hello from Jack. I am just about speechless to hear of his passing. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
