Born in: Cleveland, Ohio
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

John Roger Jenkins, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 21, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Edward Jenkins and Ruth Crosby Jenkins.

John was a quiet and steady presence—a man who found peace in the outdoors and purpose in caring for those he loved. He was incredibly hardworking and proudly served our country in the United States Navy, where he earned numerous awards and accolades. After his honorable discharge, he worked for many years as a skilled and accomplished electrician until his retirement.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing, often happiest beneath an open sky or beside calm waters. His favorite place to be was at his and Mom’s beach house, where many years were spent creating wonderful memories that will be forever cherished. He kept his mind sharp by learning about history and staying current with the world around him. Though generally private, his love for his family was constant and unwavering. Providing for, protecting, and supporting them was the great work of his life.

John was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife of over thirty years, Patricia Ann Jenkins; his parents, Edward Jenkins and Ruth Crosby Jenkins; and his sister, Faye Sable.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jeannette Kostroun (husband Jerry); his son, John Scott Jenkins; his brother, Frank (husband of Faye Sable); his favorite niece, Jennifer Turi; his grandchildren, James Tyrell, Taylor Slaughter, Kristal Lott, Ainsley Slaughter, and Charles Slaughter V; and five great-grandchildren. John is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

John’s legacy lives on through the strength, love, and devotion he instilled in his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
