Joseph Alcia Donatto

Joseph Alcia Donatto, age 92, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 21, 2015. With him, at his side, was his wife of 27 years Maryellen. Joseph was born on June 9, 1923 in Daisetta, Texas. Preceeded in death by parents, Alcia and Bernadine Donatto; brothers, Tony, Atean, Raymond; and his son, Joe Allen Donatto. Joseph was a WWII veteran and retired from Kelly Air Force Base after 28 years. In his spare time he trained Labrador Retrievers. In 1970 he moved to Poteet where he raised cattle, and bred quarter horses. Mr. Donatto was 1st captain of Atascosa Sheriffs Mounted Posse and later operated a horse transportation business. He loved raising chickens and growing figs. Joseph is survived by his wife, Maryellen. Three sisters, Ida Fonteno, Mary Jane Brigham, Reba Eichelberger husband (Phillip); daughter, Frances Allen husband (Bill); step-son, Shane A. Graf wife (Rebecca); 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pleasanton, Texas.
