Joseph (Joey) Lewis III, a proud retired veteran, entered into eternal rest on Friday July 11, 2025 at the age of 63.

A graduate of Oliver Perry Walker High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, class of 1979. He then enlisted into the Navy until retiring honorably after serving 20 years.

Joey accepted Christ at an early age, while attending Asbury United Methodist Church, and after relocating to San Antonio, Tx, he attended New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church where he worked with the media team and also helped to prepare meals for different events.

Joey was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Lewis Jr and Alma Bettyjean Hardeman Lewis, also siblings Johaun (Jc) Lewis-Osborne and Dwayne Michael Brown.

He is survived by his second mom Carrie Duplessis Lewis, siblings: Barbara Washington, Alvin (Sabrina) Lewis, Glenn Heights, Tx. Albertha (Troy) Devore, San Antonio, Tx. Roland Lewis, Denton, Tx. Betty Yvette (Aaron) Taylor, Ama, La. Richette Chapman, Gretna, La. Leroy (Peggy) Brown, Geneva, Switzerland. Darryl (Iris) Brown, Gretna, La. Von (Alethia) Brown, Arlington, Tx. Mac Osborne, Waggaman, La. Charlotte (Samuel) Miller, Biloxi, Ms. Sybil (John) Wells, Balch Springs, Tx. A loving Aunt Hessie Hardeman, who was always by his side and a devoted friend and caregiver Kevin Burkett, three godchildren Tyonne Lewis, Kaylee Hardeman and Derek Hardeman Jr. Joey also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
