Katherine “Kat” Maiorana, born December 4, 1974, entered eternal rest on November 29, 2025. Kat was a devoted and loving mother whose heart was always centered on her four children—Austin and Aaron Janek, and Madison and Kathryn Maiorana. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her strength, creativity, and warmth into every part of their lives.
Kat is survived by her beloved siblings, Jacqueline Stobbs and husband Michael, and Robert Laskowski and wife Betty. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Mark Maiorana, and her brother Kenneth Laskowski.
Kat lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, and service to others. Following the loss of her husband, she became deeply involved in advocacy work with the Gold Star Wives, offering support, understanding, and a welcoming heart to others navigating grief. Kat’s Gold Star advocacy led to the passing of elimination of the SBP-DIC Offset, or Widow’s tax allowing surviving military spouses to receive their full survivor benefits. She was also an advocate to those who had lost a loved one to suicide in the military. She never met a stranger, and her capacity to make others feel seen and valued was one of her most remarkable gifts.
A woman of boundless creativity, Kat loved pottery and found joy in shaping beauty with her hands. She had a fondness for art. Her favorite places were various art museums. She could find the beauty in everything. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling— finding inspiration in every new place, every horizon, and every person she encountered. Determination was woven into her character; when she set her mind to something, she pursued it with courage, resourcefulness, and heart.
Katherine “Kat” Maiorana will be remembered for her kindness, her artistry, her fierce devotion to family, and her unwavering advocacy for others. Her presence touched countless lives, and the legacy she leaves behind is one of love, strength, and compassion.
May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
