Kenneth was born on September 21, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Oliva Jiles and R.J. Washington. From an early age, he displayed the strength, determination, and heart that would define his life.
Kenneth earned his Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University, a reflection of his commitment to personal growth and leadership. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 23 years; he retired with the distinguished rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, Kenneth and his family were blessed to travel and live in many places, including El Paso, Texas; Tacoma, Washington; Fort Knox, Kentucky; Germany; and Korea. He deployed three times in service to his nation, demonstrating courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment.
In his younger years and throughout his time in the Army, Kenneth enjoyed boxing! He carried that passion into fatherhood, teaching his children basic self-defense techniques and instilling discipline and confidence in them.
Although Kenneth had a tough and sometimes stubborn exterior, those who knew him best understood the depth of his generosity and compassion. He was a gentle giant. He had a true heart of gold. His home was always open! His giving spirit was evident in the way he cared for others. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with family. Whether he was showcasing his pit master skills or cooking any meal requested, he did so with love. His famous stuffed burgers became a favorite among family and friends!
In his downtime, Kenneth enjoyed watching game shows and cooking programs. His favorites included Family Feud, Survivor, Judge Mathis, and Judge Judy. He was also an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs throughout every season.
At the time of his passing, Kenneth was employed at Fort Sam Houston Medical Center of Excellence as a Training Instructor for DTMS, where he continued to mentor and guide others with the same dedication that marked his military career.
