Larry Elmer Laubach passed into the arms of his blessed Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, on March 9, 2026.
Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine Laubach; his sister, Kathy Rothen and her husband Robert; his sister, LuAnn Lockerbie and her husband Owen; and his brother, James Laubach and his wife Rene’e; his sisters-in-law Cecilia Lamza and her husband Clem, Joanne Schneider and her husband Harry, and Andrea Lacey; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, and friends, including his nephew George Jaggy and his wife Jennifer, and their children Josiah, Joseph, and Justus.
Larry was born on February 17, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Elmer and Doris Laubach. He was the first of six children. Larry graduated from Edison High School (Go Bears) in 1966. He completed his Associate Degree from San Antonio College. He worked at the Health Science Center in operations for several years. He also worked at UTSA in IT for 20 years. Larry sustained a stroke in September of 2010, which made retirement inevitable.
Larry was born again by the Spirit of God on July 26, 1981. Larry served faithfully at his church Huisache Avenue Baptist Church for many years. He taught Sunday School, was in the choir and orchestra, handed out tracts in the street ministry, and was involved in church visitation. Larry had the privilege to lead his brother Jerry to the Lord.
Larry was also very involved in the bus ministry for years. When Larry and his wife would pick up children for church, Larry would stop the bus and pick up donuts for the kids. When he was in the store, a huge dog jumped into the bus and sat in the driver’s seat. The only way Larry could get the dog off the bus was by luring him off with a donut. Very funny situation at the time. All the kids were laughing their heads off.
With the Lord’s help, Larry was able to produce a hymnal for the church. Larry’s dearest hymn is “Haven of Rest.”
Larry’s life verse is Galatians 2:20–21:
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Though Larry will be greatly missed, we rejoice knowing he is now with the Lord he loved and served.
