  1. Larry, thanks for all the great times I really miss the fun working with you on all those Metro’s and Jets shows

  2. Larry, I am sad that you are gone. Our days together in The Metro’s were always filled with joy and an unending comic experience. We had so many laughs and so many great times. You touched many people with your awesomeness and you fab voice. My love goes out to you and your family. You were a great light.

  3. I only knew Larry for a few golden years back in the early eighties, but he was a terrific guy, amazing bass player and a heckuva singer. It was just about impossible to know who the front man was for the Metros back then, with so much talent crowded onto those tiny stages. I wish I’d known he’d gone to Texas–we lived there for a couple of years back in the 90s and it would have been great to be able to get together and get caught up. I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers, Larry–may the four winds blow you safely home.

  4. You maybe gone, but your voice will live forever in the minds and hearts of those who saw you perform! And the twinkle in your eyes when you sang,is something I will always remember. Thank You, for sharing your talent and voice with us. It allowed us to forget our own problems for a few hours a each week. May you now be at peace. God bless you, and thank you for all the love and talent you shared with us. RIP.

  5. Larry, I only have great memories of you. You will always have a special place in my heart. God bless you and your family!

  6. So many experiences have flashed through my mind since the news of Larry’s passing (and yes, tears), and although it’s been too many years gone by, they’re vivid and unblemished. I was fortunate to toast Larry at his wedding, and my recall is a bit cloudy, so here’s another, to a friend-I shall miss you, my gratitude for allowing me your laughter, music and passion, should I leave this planet being 10% of the man you were, I will be deemed a success. R.I.P. (and let Bailey know he remains in thought as well).

  7. Larry, You always made this one of three feel like one in a million. Your music and especially your smile has been and will always remain close to my heart. Thank you for all the “Metro Miles” and the stories and memories that still make me smile. Missing you.

  8. You have touched many with your incredible talent and soulful voice. Rest in Peace Larry. My condolences to your family and friends.

  9. Larry, You were a class act and great entertainer to work for. You transitioned and became a outstanding Road Manager for The Jets. There you helped bring joy to millions of people. I will always treasure traveling the globe with you. Thank you for touching so may lives. Music is a wacky business. You never really say goodbye to someone because odds are that your paths will meet gain. With sorrow have use the ‘G’ word… Goodbye My Friend.

  10. Larry, Hard to believe the news. Seems like just yesterday we were riding across the world with you and the rest of the Jets Crew. Well done my friend. As Monk said, you never really say goodbye – you just go on and assume paths will cross – so sorry our didn’t intersect again. Rest well……

  11. To Trevor and Jason, your papa, Larry was my closest friend in the late 70’s and 80’s. My deepest sympathy to you both. You never got to meet his fans up in Minnesota and there are many who send the same love to you both.

  12. To those of you in TX: We up here in the far north were blessed to have Larry as a major part of our music scene in the 70’s and 80’s. The guy was just a powerhouse. He was a top notch totally impressive bassist, and a fantastic singer. (aaaand as good looking as any person could ever hope to be) His music project the Metro All Stars jam packed the house wherever and whenever they played. That band could not have been as cool as they were without Larry. He was just awesome > AND a nice guy to boot! I have no clue as to his life in TX, but I want to tell you that he was a true star here in MN. We have missed him. Sending best wishes to his TX friends and family. And thanks to Larry for the friendship, and for showing me close-up what it looks like to be a monster bassist. Blessings to you all in this trying and heartbreaking time. -Shane

  17. I was in my early teens when my family and I met Larry and found out he’d be our road manager. You always had a sense of humor Larry and was a blast to work with. A family as crazy as ours, you always seemed to understand us or did a pretty good job pretending. I wish we could’ve crossed paths again but maybe one day in the next life we’ll reunite. My heart goes out to your family and loved ones….. rest in peace brother….. Moana

  18. Thanks for the great memories, and may you rest in peace. Condolences to your family and friends.

  19. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Larry was a beautiful human being, inside and out. “May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. Alleluia.”

  21. Larry…the man with the smile that could light up any room! You blessed us all with your incredible talent and undeniable presence. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

  22. Deepest sympathy to the sons Larry left behind… stay strong, stay focused, and make your pops proud. Your dad was a musical and human giant… our paths diverged in 1978 but I have vivid memories of his upbeat personality. Wish I could have seen you again Larry all these years later. Love love love, Rick

  23. Larry, I know your family knows what a great man you are. But I have to sit in awe when I think of how many people you touched. You touched them not only though music, but though the gracious way you dealt with people even when they were being impossible. We were richer for having you with us, and I know that I am a better person for having known you. Love to your family, and I hope to see you again some day! D.

  24. Dear Larry’s family…I knew Larry from his days in The Metro All Stars and The Metro’s. Two words come to mind…suave and debonair when he came to Larry’s stage presence. But outside the stage he was a very smart and down-to-earth man. Thanks to Larry and his bandmates, they made my insane world sane. RIP Larry I know you and Andy Bailey are making music together again.

  25. To the friends and family of Larry. He was an impressive bassist & vocalist as well as a wonderful human being. I am proud to have known him and been associated with him and the Metro Allstars. He will be missed but his music and great smile will live on. Condolences to you all. Alex

  26. Larry Stock… “world class” musician, singer, performer. I am so sad to hear of Larry’s passing. I think all of us who were a part of the 1970’s & 1980’s Fargo music scene have lost a little piece of ourselves and feel our mortality with this news. I know I do. I remember the very first time I saw Larry. It was in about 1973-74 in… East Grand Forks, MN. He wore his hair very long, past his shoulders then, and was the guitar player and singer in his band. I think he was playing a Rickenbacher 6 string. Great guitar player! Some time after that, he started playing with the Uglies in Fargo, ND. What suprised me was… he started playing bass! I remember a discussion we had about how he had come to that change and how, as he put it, he “cut his teeth” on a Fender Jazz when first starting. Well, as everone knows he became an outstanding bassist. Great tone, dexterity and taste! Larry, I would dearly love to see you perform again. One day, somewhere, I still hope to. God’s speed Larry, and may you, his family soon find peace from your sorrow.

  27. Larry Stock was one of the best vocalists I’ve ever witnessed. His range was incredible and his voice could give you chills. He was essential to the Metros and when he handled lead vocal he took the stage. The combination of players in that band would not have been complete without him. He will be missed by all who knew him.

  28. You will be missed by many my friend! My first Larry experience was Lovely to See You by Moody Blues at the Dirty Bird with the Uglies! I’m sure I will hear that when we meet again! Until then…..

  29. Larry You were always a professional when you played the Zodiac Lounge. It was a pleasure knowing you and enjoying your music.

  30. Larry was one of my truest friends, and I felt terrible that I missed him when in San Antonio last month for a day. To know we won’t talk again is really hard. I was just listening to his music and thinking of him last night. Larry was such a great singer and musician, and one of the really great “in the pocket” bassists. I would have loved to hear him play just one more time, or to jam with him like we used to do back in Minneapolis. I can’t say enough good things about the guy, I will miss him more than I can express. He was a wonderful human being, and though things were at times tough I know he never lost his center, his even keel as he always said . For anyone that wants to see them I’ll put a bunch of pics up on FB. Goodbye Larry.

  31. To Trevor & Jason and to all of Larry’s family: Larry was so kind to me! It is true: Larry was a star in the Twin Cities. I can’t help but echo the others, fabulous musicians and techs in their own right…that Larry simply was an incredible musician, singer, performer and person. His smile could light up a room. He inspired so many, and maybe the ones who took the greatest enjoyment and admired him most are ‘the cream of the crop’ players and industry people. +Prayers+ thoughts and love to you all in this heartbreaking time. Pip

  32. Larry and I weaved a few times in and out of each others lives in the old days ~ he was a snappy dresser, KILLER singer he is in my top ten still to this day drove the hippest car (Volvo wagon) when we all had rusty beaters – A smile that lit up a room – As you can see we are all gonna Miss him ~ What a band they are making up there!!

  33. Larry, You were a great musician and friend. I have many happy memories of seeing you play with the Metro Allstars, taking the tour bus from MN down to TX to be in your wedding, and lots of times just hanging out. I watched Trevor take his 1st steps with you, and I remember Jason as a baby. You were missed when you left MN, as you will be now by all those who knew you, but we have our memories to sustain us. My condolences to your family, especially the boys, who I know you loved with all your great heart. Rest in peace. Love, Tami

  34. Jane, I wanted to give my condolonces to you, as well. Even though people sometimes go their seperate ways in life, the memories remain. My heart goes out to you and the boys, who I remember very well, especially Trevor, as I watched him for you sometimes. I bet they are all grown up now…how the time flies. Larry was there for them growing up, and he’s still there, always will be, watching over his boys. I am here for you if you need me. I miss you a lot,and have tried searching for you several times these past years. Contact me anytime, day or night. phone 507-581-0587, t.chapman@mchsi.com/ FB is anamaniceleste@facebook.com. Love & blessings to you and all you family, Tami

  35. When did we meet, 27 years ago?.. in the Metros, the hottest band we had in the Midwest! A brilliant bass player, with a voice way too soulful for a white boy:), and a wit and sense of humor sharper than a razor blade! And there was his humanity. Larry was simply the nicest guy anyone could imagine. He joined me to work with The Jets, was their road manager for many years. It takes a very special person to work with kids, someone with compassion, understanding, a sense of humor, and the ability to move a large contingency of people and equipment around the world. Larry had ’em all! The band loved him! The crew loved him! The promoters loved him! With Larry in command on the road, there was never anything to worry about; he had it all covered, and I was very grateful for that. Larry stayed on board with me to design the sound for the Cole Porter musical. We had so many great years together; as a musician, singer, road manager, production wizard, my occasional shrink, and my friend. To his boys…… all of us, his close friends who he worked with, and the friends he made all around the world, we want you to know what a great man your dad was, what a great human being your dad was, what a talented man your dad was. Ok…. I’m crying now. Your dad’s passing is ‘worth’ crying about… my friend Larry… my dear friend Larry.

  36. I had the pleasure of working with Larry when he was with Don Powell and The Jets. A favorite Larry story (before the TSA and flight hassels) is that when he was arranging travel for the band and crew, he would always get an extra ticket for: Justin Case. When I asked him who this person was, he said “Nobody yet, but I get an extra, ‘just in case’. That was Larry, always doing the very best he could to keep those he cared for safe and prepared. Now, may he watch over all of us and we know he will be there, just in case. May his family have the very best memories and think of Larry often, and with a smile.

  37. There is a very soft spot in my heart for Larry. He was a great friend starting in the 70’s, then played at the Zodiac for us. He leaves a void in the world that cannot be replaced. Rest well my friend. Peace and love. Cheryl Hagen

  38. Just got the sad news about my old friend Larry passing on. I had great times chasing the Metros around the Upper Midwest back in the day. Saw them play many times in the Twin Cities. The girls all went for Larry with that dreamy voice of his. Solid bass player too. I am sure he and my late brother Andy have had time to share some memories, and maybe play some old Metro tunes. All the best to his family and loved ones.
