Life's Journey On September 1, 1942, Vincent and Ella Wee Singleton-Yates were chosen to be blessed with a "Gift of God" whom they named Lee Ervin Yates (Sr.). He was the youngest of three siblings, Vernett "Sonny" Yates (Deceased) Betty Wills (Deceased). His parents, brother, sister, wife Ruth Janell Yates and eldest son Lee Ervin Yates, Jr. preceded him in death. A loving Aunt Rosia Lee Lee is recently deceased. Lee attended school at Dry Branch in Edna, Texas and later moved to San Antonio, Texas to complete his education at Wheatley High School. Lee accepted Christ at an early age in Edna, Texas. He united with Tried Stone Baptist Church, in San Antonio, Texas. Lee was united in marriage to Jacquelyn E. Smith of San Antonio, Texas. Lee later married Ruth Janell Gardner. Lee worked as a Diesel Mechanic in Victoria, Texas and San Antonio, Texas. Lee was affectionately known to many as "Nubby". Lee served his country in the U. S. Army. Lee leaves to treasure his memory five children: Dillard "D. D." Yates (Monica), Kevin W. Yates (Gwen), Haynette Miller, Ervin Lee Yates, and Tonya Lee Yates; his grandchildren: Erica (Lee) Yates-Doffeny, Devin D. Yates, Amber Yates, Bria Yates, Aerial Matthews, Aston Jackson, Ervin Lee Yates, II, Caleb Ray Edwards, Ja'Tavian Moore, Tyran Gamez; great grandchildren Aeriem Monlyn, Ashileigh Monlyn, Amarien Daniels, Alexia Jade Marshall-Yates, Lee J. Doffeny, III; a special sister-in-law Marie Yates; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
