Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Lois Jane Nolan was born in San Antonio, Texas to Clarence and Jean (Collins) Humpherys.  She was the 3rd child of four children.

Lois attended the public schools in the San Antonio Independent School District to include Phillis Wheatly High School. Following high school, she made the medical field her career.

She was a kind-hearted person and touched everyone she came into contact with, her neighbors, family, friends. She was not a stranger to anyone. If you met her you loved her and she loved you. She had a special bond with her sister, Peggy Howard who was more like a mother to her. They traveled together, laughed together and loved together. When Peggy and her husband were stationed in San Diego it wasn’t long before Lois moved to the area.

Her daughter, Alice Robinson and her grandson, Terrence A.C. Robinson were the apple of her eye. She would visit them in Baltimore, Maryland to spend precious time with them and create memories.

Having given her life to Christ as a young person, she later joined St. Stephen Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her passing.  She was married to James Nolan in October 2000 and they remained inseparable until her passing on July 3, 2025.  They made their home in China Grove where she  began a long-lasting relationship with the China Grove Fire Department.  During the holidays she would bake for them and occasionally just took them a meal. When she became ill not only were they doing their job, they were a helping hand to her.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Jean Humpherys; brothers, Clarence and Ernest Humpherys and her beloved grandson, Terrence A.C. Robinson.  Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband, James Nolan; daughters, Alice Robinson, Manuela Nolan and Pat Pierce; her sister, Peggy Howard, nephew, Robert Adrian Humpherys (Barbara) along with a host of family members.
