maria salinas

February 27, 1934 ~ November 30, 2025

Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

With deep love and heavy hearts, the family celebrates the beautiful life and peaceful passing of Maria Esperanza Salinas, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt on the early morning of November 30, 2025.

Born in Nava Coahuila ,Mexico on February 27, 1934, into a family of 9 siblings, Esperanza (as she was affectionately known) lived a long and beautiful life defined by love, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to her family.

Esperanza found great joy in gardening, a passion that mirrored the way she nurtured the lives around her. Just as she tenderly cared for each seed she planted, she cultivated deep roots of wisdom, values, and compassion in her five children: Luis Carlos Salinas Jr. (wife Myrna), Francisco Javier Salinas (wife Brenda), Miguel Ángel Salinas (wife Jackie), Elizabeth Salinas-Garza (husband Jesus), and Gregorio Antonio Salinas (wife Shannon), her grandchildren, Miguel Angel Jr., Luis Ignacio, Isabel Esperanza, Victoria Alejandra, Gabriela Franchesca, Griffin Michael, Corbin Elizabeth, Quincy Jane, Finley Jude, and her great-grandchildren, Calista, Miguel Angel III, Ignacio, Evangeline.

A gifted baker and cook, Esperanza’s home was always filled with the comforting aromas of meals prepared with patience and heart. She was also a successful rancher and a skillful negotiator—strong, capable, and deeply respected by those who knew her.

She was the embodiment of kindness, warmth, and nurturing care. As a mother, she was our Super Mom and was all things to all her children – our Den Mother (boyscouts), event coordinator, transporter, counselor and cheerleader at all sporting events. She gave us wings to fly confidently into our own lives, encouraging us to take care of our own families first.

She was an incredible Abuelita and great grandmother and was always ready to share in a good game of cards (Chinazo, Paco, Poker). Abuelita was a constant source of guidance, comfort, and laughter. It was a certain thing that whenever saying I love you to her, she’d be sure to respond “I love you more”.

She leaves behind that legacy of love—one built through small acts of generosity, heartfelt conversations, and the countless ways she made each person in her life feel valued.

Her memory will live forever in the hearts of her family, a lasting reminder of a life lived with purpose, gentleness, and grace. Her lessons, encouragement, and unconditional love will continue to flourish in the generations she leaves behind. With joy for the time we were given and heavy hearts for the time we’ll miss, We love you, Mom.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Jose Maria Garibay and Modesta Martinez, as well as her loving husband of over sixty four years, Dr. Luis Carlos Salinas Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her five children, along with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as sister Alicia Garibay de Morales, and many nieces and nephews.
