Marvin Lewis Middleton, age 72, transitioned from his earthly home, Thursday, January 15, 2026, to be with the Lord. He was born June 4, 1953, to Azalee Henry and Willie C. Middleton, Sr., in San Antonio, Texas.
Marvin accepted Christ at an early age where he attended at Trinity Baptist Church, under the direction of Reverend John Hall, along with his family.
He attended school in the San Antonio Independent School District, where Phillis Wheatley High School was his chosen secondary school, because of the school’s warmth and closeness the faculty made all feel loved and cared through education and family importance. It was at Phillis Wheatley High School that he met his closest friends that would become “brothers” for life. Because of their compassion for music, they formed a singing group, “The Montiques.” The members of the group were: Marvin Middleton, Harold Green, Willie Smith, Foster Lampkin (deceased), Ronnie “Che Che” Henderson (deceased), and Archie Jenkins (deceased). The group was renamed in 1976 as, “C H A D” by Malaco Records. Their band was “Sweet Funk Musical Express,” with members: Ernest Bland, Gregory Givens, Tony Cobbs, Larry Giles “E-Strang,” and Harvey Emerson, and Don A. Hinson, Sr. (Road manager/MC/Soundman). The group traveled the world, meeting and opening for artists like the Chi-Lites, BT Express, Rufus and Carla Thomas, Johnny Harra Impersonator for Elvis Presley, Patti LaBell and many others.
Marvin and Janette were high school classmates and formed a bond through their love for music. They kept in touch through the years and eventually found their way to each other’s hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother Azalee Henry Middleton and Willie C. Middle, Sr.; two brothers, Willie C. Middleton, Jr., and Gloston Wayne Middleton. He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Janette Middleton, stepson, Joel Williams, Jr., granddaughter,
Airyahna Williams, nephew, G.W. Middleton; his siblings: Austin James Middleton, Azalee McKinney, Brenda Joyce Conway, and Janice Marie Gilmore; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
