Mary Louise Hartman was born in San Antonio, Texas to Phoebie Brown and John H. Fields on August 23, 1933. Mary was their only child. Mary Louise attended Holy Redeemer Elementary School and Wheatley High School. Mary married Eddie Jackson in 1955. Two children were born to this union, Beverly Ann Jackson and Joseph Charles Jackson. Mary accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. S. H Stewart and later moved her membership to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church under the leadership or her uncle, Rev. Robert Miller. Mary served as church secretary and worked on the missionary board at Mt. Pisgah. Later in life Mary married Ocie Hartman, a deacon at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. They were blessed with the adoption of a baby girl, Brenda Rayshon Hartman, who was born April 25, 1970. Mary Louise attended nursing school at the Baptist School of Nursing where she received her license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She used this skill working at the Baptist Memorial Hospital for thirty two years and at Southeast Hospital where she worked for two years and later at Manor Square Nursing Home for five years.. Mary Louise leaves behind to cherish her love and memories her children: Beverly and Sherman Griggs, Joseph Charles Jackson, Roylene Johnston, Brenda Hartman and Michael McQueen all of San Antonio; grandchildren, Tameka Michelle Rand and her husband Ralph of Houston, Texas, Renaldo Keith Jennings, Jr., of San Antonio, LaToya Johnston, Joseph Jackson, Jr., Christopher and Joshua Hartman and Josiah Jennings. Mary also leaves ten great grandchildren along with a host of cousins and other family members.
