Matthew Baer Nathanson

matthew nathanson
The family of Matthew Baer Nathanson invites his many friends to pay tribute to his life at a memorial gathering 3:30-5p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 5611 E. Houston St. Guests are invited to share favorite memories, photos or mementos in presentations beginning at 4 p.m. Matthew died February 22, 2016, leaving behind family who loved him dearly and hundreds of friends who have posted poignant memories on social media. All agree his spark was extinguished too soon. Matthew was born June 4, 1978, in San Antonio and graduated from Robert E Lee High School and studied accounting at San Antonio College. Matthew is remembered for smile, twinkle in his eye, sense of humor and kindness. He was outgoing and friendly and never met a stranger. He always look out for the welfare of others. Mathew was a loyal son, grandson, brother and uncle. He often stopped by his grandmothers' homes to help with chores and escort them to their events. He and his twin brother, Marcus Nathanson, were inseparable and always took care of each other. Matthew looked up to his older brother, Caddo Parish Studdard, throughout his life. Matthew was a delightfully loving son, taking his mother to rock concerts and movies. As an adult, he was her friend and confidant in addition to being a caring son. He worked for his father, Stephen Nathanson, at Nathanson and Nathanson, a local accounting firm for many years. He is survived by his mother Madelon Rogers, father Stephen Nathanson and partner Kathy Benjamin; beloved grandmother "MeeMaw" and twin brother Marcus Nathanson, all of San Antonio; brother Caddo Parish Studdard, his wife Jennifer and nephew Paxton of Katy; and aunt Victoria Nathanson of San Antonio. Matthew flew into the waiting arms of his grandmother Harriett Nathanson and grandfathers Phillip "The Colonel" Nathanson and George B. Rogers "PaPaw". It gives us comfort knowing he is at peace among family and friends and a host of angels! In lieu of donations, the family asks that friends make a donation to a favorite charity or do a good deed in Matthew's honor to "pay it forward".

  34. Dear Steve, Marcus & family,

    We go back 3 generations…a lot of years and a lot of memories…

    Birth is a beginning

    And death a destination.

    And life is a journey:

    From childhood to maturity

    And youth to age;

    From innocence to awareness

    And ignorance to knowing;

    From foolishness to discretion

    And then, perhaps, to wisdom;

    From weakness to strength

    Or strength to weakness –

    And, often, back again;

    From health to sickness

    And back, we pray, to health again;

    From offense to forgiveness,

    From loneliness to love,

    From joy to gratitude,

    From pain to compassion,

    And grief to understanding –

    From fear to faith;

    From defeat to defeat to defeat –

    Until, looking backward or ahead,

    We see that victory lies

    Not at some high place along the way,

    But in having made the journey, stage by stage,

    A sacred pilgrimage.

    Birth is a beginning

    And death a destination.

    And life is a journey,

    A sacred pilgrimage –

    To life everlasting.

    (by Rabbi Kline)*

  46. In these sad and troublesome times it is reassuring to remember Jesus’ promise that one day soon…”all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” (John 5:28,29) God promises that at that time “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” (Revelation 21:4). My condolences go out to your family and friends….Mrs.Aguirre
