Maxpaula L. Knight

maxpaula knight
Our beloved Mother, Maxpaula L. Knight, passed to be with our Father in heaven on May 16, 2018 at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her Husband and high school sweetheart, Lynn L. Sunny Knight. They were married for more than 33 years and raised four Sons all of which have survived her passing. As a military family they traveled frequently and called Aviano, Italy home for more than eight years and made numerous friendships that lasted decades. Maxpaula was born in Galt, Missouri on July 6, 1942 and was delivered by her Grandfather who was a small town doctor. After her Father returned from WWII they moved the Los Angeles where she danced with the Westchester Marionettes and were featured on the Lawrence Welk show in the 1950s. While in high school her family moved to Medford, Oregon where she attended Medford High School and met Sunny. They eloped to Reno, Nevada to be married in 1960. She worked for many years as a Child Care dietary specialist in military child care centers and loved to read, do crossword puzzles, crochet and travel. Maxpaula and Sunny had four Sons, Tony, Tim, Todd and Toby. They frequently confused the names of their sons when trying to install discipline in an often rambunctious household environment. All four Sons have had successful careers in business or the military. Surviving grandchildren are Daniel, Chrystal, Stephan, Kyle, Hunter and Daniella. Great-Grandchildren are Nicholas, Harlow, Noah, Owen and Bennett. Her celebration of life will be held on July 6, 2018 in San Antonio, TX and more information can be obtained by emailing tobster16@gmail.com. She will be laid to rest with her Husband in a private ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

  6. Below please find a picture of Maxpaula circa 1955 when she was a member of the Westchester Lariats (not the Westchester Marioinettes!) Maxpaula is in the center , row two in a slightly darker dress than the two taller girls on either side. My father originated this dance troupe, he is in the back row slightly to the right of Maxpaula. She was a delight – I remember her well! Her brother Ursa was also in the dance group and was my dance partner! Ursa is the little boy in the second row 3rd from the right. (I’m the little girl in the very front). The dance group went on under my father’s direction for 25 years. We traveled the world performing for the USO, heads of state, and were featured in numerous stage and television productions, but no memories are held more fondly than those from those early years. This picture was taken at the Westchester Town House adjacent to Emerson Elementary School where we met every Friday after school for dance class. Jody Hall Esser
