Melvin E. Crozier was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 8, 1929 to Bell Robinson and Rolland Crozier. At an early age, he united with Grace Middle Baptist Church and was baptized. He grew under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Benjamin Hooks. He graduated from Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Thereafter, he entered the United States Air Force where he served for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. His tour of duties overseas, (Japan, Turkey, and Germany) state side, The Pentagon in Washington D.C. Security Service, San Antonio. He was united in marriage to Thelma M. Dixon. To this union, there was a son Michael F. Crozier, and a daughter, Adrianne (Crozier) Green. After returning from the Air Force, Melvin returned to Memphis, Tennessee where he enrolled at Memphis State Technical Institute where he received his degree with honors in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He was on the Trustee Board of Metropolitan Insurance Company. While attending college, Melvin worked as a D.J. at different facilities; going by the name "Papa Sur" while living in Memphis. He frequently visited his children, extended family, and friends in San Antonio, Texas. When his health was good, he was an avid golfer. Melvin returned to reside permanently in San Antonio, Texas in 2002, uniting with West Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two aunts. Melvin leaves to mourn,(as he calls them) "Daddy's Number One Son", Michael F. Crozier; "Daddy's Baby Girl", Adrianne (Crozier) Green; his "Favorite" Grandson, Johnathan E.J. Crozier Matthews; Loving Sister, Jean Bealer of Port Arthur, Texas; Loving and caring ex-wife, Thelma (Crozier) Pinkston; Best Friends, Charles "Tuna" Benson of Beaumont, Texas and James Hall of San Antonio, Texas.

Melvin Crozier was a wonderful man, respecting know to his friend in Memphis, TN as PapSon…He was a Navy Veteran and a member of the Military Retiree Tri State Area until moving to San Antonio, Texas, he loved pinochle and we played all the time, he loved his family. To his family time will pass and the pain will lesson but memories will be forever present of someone who was so special to so many people…RIP my dear friend. Betty Fortson, Memphis, TN

  2. I knew Mr. Crozier only through dialysis and I am going to miss him. Having to be there so early it was nice to see him every MWF and talk with him. He had an infection smile and was always quick with a “good morning”. I will never forget him and will cherish what little time I knew him.
