Niota Mae Owens

Niota Mae Owens, 81, born September 21, 1935, in Jennings, Oklahoma, passed away October 8, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. She was the child of Virgie and Russell Lewallen. She is survived by four daughters, Carla Henigan and husband James, Rhonda Dunagan and her late husband Michael, Anita Hopkins and husband Winn, Terri Settles and husband Bryan, one son, Virgil Clodfelter and wife Tammie, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. Niota also leaves behind her precious dog, Peaches, who went everywhere she went. Niota was a military wife. She was always ready to make the move to a new place and spent many times alone while her husband was shipped overseas to Korea and Vietnam. Besides taking care of the house and children, she volunteered where she was needed and stayed involved in different organizations. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. Niota never met a stranger and visited with people everywhere she went. She loved to travel and enjoyed dancing. She really enjoyed family times; graduations, weddings, trips to the coast, and reunions. Niota was a dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
