Phyllis J. Tillotson, age 54, passed away Friday morning, April 3, 2015 in San Antonio, Tx. where she was a resident of Lakeside Nursing Home. In March of 2014, Phyllis was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she took each day that came to her with hopes of more life. Phyllis was born in Troy, New York, January 31, 1961 to Niles "Nub" Tillotson and Patricia "Jean" Griffin. Phyllis moved to San Antonio, Texas thirty years ago and called San Antonio her home. Phyllis worked for Southwest Airlines as a Reservationist until she retired with complications of diabeties. In 1994 a new life came to her when her daughter was born. Phyllis became a Girl Scout Leader in San Antonio, then moved to the Pipe Creek Troop and finally to Bandera with Troop 444. Phyllis provided guidenace and emotional support for these young girls until they grew into beautiful young ladies. Then she became the District Troop Leader. Phyllis was a member of the Womens Auxiliary Unit 157 and maintained the position of Secretary of Tresuary and helped with fund raising for the Veterans of the American Legion Post 157 along with Bingo calling on Wednesday nights until March 2014. Phyllis touched many lives and will always be remembered with love. A memorial viewing service will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 3:00 in the afternoon until 7:00 in the evening at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 5611 E. Houston, San Antonio, Texas. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Vanessa A. Bernal. Her mother, Patricia "Jean" Tillotson. Her brothers, David L. Tillotson and Niles E. Tillotson( his wife Cat Guzzy Tillotson). Her sisters, Teresa "Terry" Tillotson, Mary J. Tillotson, Penny Tillotson Murray (Husband Virgle Tillotson) and Jean M. Tillotson Coles ( Husabnd Robert Coles) Phyllis is preceded in death by her father, Niles "Nub" Tillotson. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Lakeside Nursing Home for your continuous care, River city Hospice Nurses Robert and Mario, also the on call nurse we kept waking up, Brian. To Altus Hospice Nurse Randy and Denise; you did not know her long but you will be remembered with love.
