With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ramona “Mona” Ornelas, who left this world on December 4, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on August 31, 1942, in Laredo, Texas, Mona grew into a woman whose strength, kindness, and spark shaped the lives of everyone blessed to know her.
Mona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugenio S. Ornelas, and her daughter, Grizelda “Ginger” Perales. Though she faced loss, she carried on with grace, humor, and resilience. She devoted her life wholeheartedly to her family, who were her greatest joy and deepest purpose.
She is survived by her loving children: Francisco Ornelas; Eduardo Ornelas (Beatriz),Mirela Muñoz (Richard); and Juan Ornelas. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren—Ray Anthony, Stephanie, Cheyanne, Eliza, Brianna, Natalie, and Eugenio—and her great-grandchildren, Nathan Alexander, Jaslene Rae, Kylie Jade, and Olivia Quinn. She also leaves behind her loyal dogs, Sophie and Bella, who were constant companions and brought her daily comfort.
Mona will be remembered for her humor, her sass, and her unmistakable warmth. She had a heart that welcomed everyone and hands that were always ready to help. Whether she was exploring thrift stores, walking the mall, trying her luck at the casinos, or crafting surrounded by loved ones, Mona found joy in every moment. She lived her life with vibrancy, love, and an unshakable spirit that inspired everyone around her.
Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her love will continue to guide her family and friends for the rest of their lives.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Mona’s life—
for her laughter, her courage, and the love she so freely gave.
We ask that You wrap her in Your eternal light and grant her peace and rest in Your presence.
Comfort all who mourn her, and let the memories she leaves behind
be a source of strength, love, and healing.
May her spirit continue to shine in the hearts of those who cherished her.
Amen.

Ur loving son
During one of the hardest moments of my life, she stayed with me for weeks to make sure I was okay after my mother’s passing. That is who Tía Mona was a beautiful aunt, a confidante, and a source of comfort and strength when it mattered most.
I love her and I miss her terribly, but I find peace knowing she is no longer sick and is now enjoying the glory of heaven. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing her with me. She will always be loved and never forgotten.
