Sunrise March 25, 1956 Rita Maria lopez was born in La Romana, Lechuga, Dominican Republic to Francisco William Acosta (deceased) and Sulema Acosta. As a daughter, she was everything a parent could want in a child. Her parents couldn't have been more proud of her achievements; her relationship with the Lord gave them a sense of peace and security. In 1981 Rita moved to Texas and met the love of her life, Joe Luis Lopez. As a wife, there aren't enough words to describe what she meant to Joe and what he meant to her. They were everything to each other. They had an unconditional love for one another. They were married for 32 beautiful years and had four loving childrenAlex, Joe, Priscilla and Davidwhom she loved with all of her heart. As a mother, Rita loved on her children and constantly prayed over them. For her it was a joy raising her four children and an honor to sow into them the building blocks of faith. Rita attended Atlantic Union College in the early 80's and majored in nursing before moving to Texas. Rita enjoyed and had a talent for cooking, making clothes for her children, especially dresses for her daughter, and crocheting. Her favorite hobby was getting closer to the Lord. Her latest hobby was taking pictures and videos of her precious grandson, Ethan, who lit up every time he saw her. Ethan loved her and always wanted to make sure his Mama was well taken care of. Rita had a strong, faithful and intimate relationship with her heavenly father. Rita couldn't get enough of praising Him and spending time with Him through reading God's word and prayer. Her relationship with the Lord gave her a joy and hope. Rita is survived by her sister and five brothers including twenty nieces and nephews and countless friends. Her home is the designated place where everyone gathered to celebrate joyous times together; a home which was filled with love, laughter and food. In remembrance, when we think of Rita, we think of love, dedication, courage, strength, patience and more than anything her devotion to God Sunset January 23, 2016
