Robert Anthony Washington was born July 17, 1950 to Booker T. and Lillie Mae Barber Washington in San Antonio, Texas.  He was the third child of sixteen.

Robert attended the public schools in San Antonio before joining the United States Navy.  Upon returning home from the Navy, he pursued a number of careers including, construction, iron worker and with the San Antonio Independent School District where he retired.

Robert was known to be the person who made sure everything was right.  He was fun, loved his family, checking on them all the time and sang Happy Birthday to all of his loved ones every year.

While out one evening in 1993, he met his “Baby”, Gwendolyn Horn and after dating for awhile they choose a life together and remained together until her passing in 2022.

Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, Booker T. Washington and Lillie Mae Barber Washington; siblings, Booker T. Washington, Ferline Mass, John Chatman and Elmorris Stevens and his wife of thirty one years, Gwendolyn Horn.

He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Robert Louis Washington, Henry D. Mosley, Pauline Davis, Eddie W. Ogilvie and Rochelle Jarmon; children, Tamara Escribano, Dant’e Horn, Damion Horn and Robert Washington, Jr.; grandchildren, V’Antra Barrera, Jada Roberts, and Cecil Jones, III; great grandchildren, James Perry, III, Jordyn Barber and Jornee Barber along with a number of other relatives and friends.

God bless this whole family, Robert faught a great fight not only serving his Country in the United States Navy, but as a wonderful husband to Gwendolyn and her children and grandchildren. Robert always had a smile on his face, and kind words to say. We are going to miss him, but now he is resting with the Lord. No more pain and tears. Gwendolyn and Robert are back together again.
