robert huth
After a full life, Robert Louis Huth passed away on August 18, 2008 in San Antonio at the age of 83. Robert was born on May 1, 1925 in San Antonio to Theodore George Huth and Elena Taaffe Huth. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Bob, as he was known by all, was a fourth generation direct descendant of Ferdinand Louis Huth, the co-founder of Castroville, who later moved to San Antonio (1863) and established Huth Seed Co. at 428 W. Market St., which continued operations throughout the generations. The Huth family contributed much to community service in San Antonio. Born in the Catholic faith, Bob always held firm to his beliefs and donated regularly to several missionary organizations. He was a friend to all, helping in any way he could, sometimes at his own expense. In addition, Bob had an open door for the many countless people who passed through. He truly believed. Mr. Huth married Bessie Norris in March of 1947, and later married Augusta "Annie" Rauch in June of 1977, both of whom preceded Mr. Huth in death. Of these unions, survivors include 12 children; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family from California to Florida, and all points in between. In addition, he is also survived by a sister, Rosemary Holbrook, and by a sister-in-law, Margorie Billings, both of San Antonio. A memorial mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at St. Victor's Chapel in Lakehills. Private interment at Pipe Creek Cemetery will be held at a later date. "Well done good and faithful servant."
