Ronald Eugene Williams, also known as Ronnie or Slim, was a man who valued kindness, laughter, and simplicity. He leaves behind an unforgettable legacy as a beloved husband, father, friend, and sports enthusiast. A genuine and easygoing spirit, Ronnie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Hall of Famer from Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, he was a basketball legend in his own right and carried his love for sports throughout his life. If you were looking for Ronnie on Saturdays and Sundays, you’d likely find him cheering on his favorite teams on his couch.
Ronnie was a dedicated servant to his country. As a U.S. Army veteran, he served honorably in Germany and took great pride in his service. Later, he transitioned to a fulfilling career in civil service, where he dedicated over 30 years before retiring. His work was meaningful to him, and he carried his sense of duty and service into every aspect of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gretchen Ann Williams; his son, Chauncey Williams; his parents, Norma Jean Patterson and Raphael Williams; and his brother, Paul Williams (spouse Jeanie).
Ronnie is survived by his loving family: daughters Angela Williams and Chante Williams, as well as Colleen Washington-Williams (Angela’s mother); his siblings, Gary Williams (spouse Susan) and Darlene Derry; along with many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ronald Eugene Williams touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the laughter and love he shared so generously. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit remains, forever cheering us on from the best seat in the house.
