Ruben Flores Puente

Ruben Flores Puente born on March 16, 1960 (Age: 55) of Weslaco, Texas and resident of San Antonio, Texas lost his battle to cancer at home surrounded by his family on November 24, 2015. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents Ubaldo & Susana Puente and his son, Ruben Jaymes Puente of Weslaco, Texas. Ruben is survived by his wife, Elsa Cardenas-Puente; his children: Ruben (Yahira) Puente Jr., Vanessa (Angel) Rodriguez, Joshua Salinas, and Stephanie Puente; his grandchildren: Gianna & Arianna Rodriguez and Alex Puente along with many loving siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ruben loved working on anything that involved using his God-given talent and his hands until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He was known for transforming someone's trash into someone else's treasure. His love did not stop there. Ruben always managed to bring home stray animals and nurture them back to health much like his beloved blue-heeler, Harley, who he brought back to life. When he was not fixing things or healing animals, he enjoyed eating buckets of popcorn with his wife and spoiling his grandchildren with candies, cookies, and the occasional fishing trip. Ruben always longed for a motorcycle and with his wife by his side that dream became a reality. In the past year, Ruben enjoyed long rides into the sunset with his wife. Too soon Ruben has left this earth to travel on his Harley Davidson beyond where we can see, but it's all about the journey forever riding free. Visitation and prayer service will be held from 1PM to 3PM at MeadowLawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association.
