Sonia Cornelia Wallace

Sonia Cornelia Wallace passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in the small mining town of Rush Run, Fayette County, West Virginia, on April 30, 1935, she was the beloved daughter of Marjorie Mays Riley and Brown Cornelius Riley.

Sonia devoted over 35 years to inspiring young minds as a bilingual  elementary school teacher with the San Antonio Independent School District. A passionate learner herself, she was an avid reader, so much so that she turned an entire room of her home into her cherished personal library.

Adventurous and full of curiosity, Sonia loved to travel, especially to visit loved ones near and far. Her journeys took her to the cultural richness of Mexico and the lush landscapes of Ireland, creating memories she would joyfully recount.

Known for her warm heart and magnetic personality, Sonia never met a stranger. Her laugh and singing were contagious, her presence comforting, and her love for life unmistakable.

Above all, Sonia was a woman of deep faith. A devoted member of the Boerne, West Park, and Landa Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she was committed to sharing Bible truths with others and found great joy in her ministry. She loved singing—loudly and proudly—often inspiring even strangers to join with her.

Sonia will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the love she so freely gave. Her life was a light to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne S. Gill; her second husband, Fred Wallace; her daughter, Dawn Angulo; and her grandson, Zechariah Angulo.

Sonia is survived by her loving grandchildren: Naomi Reyna (Isaac), Abigail Anderson (Shaun), and Josiah Angulo; her son-in-law, Arthur Angulo; and her dear brothers, Carlton Riley (Sue) and Nile Riley (Sue).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Bulverde Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
