Steven Robert Wied entered the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at the age of 57. He was born here in San Antonio, TX on October 18,1966 to Robert and Majorie Wied. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1985 and Southwest Texas State University in 1993 as a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Speech Communication (Go Figure!). He worked his way through college at UPS. Then following, in both of his grand-father’s footsteps, working for Union Pacific Railroad for just over 30 years where he was simply known just as “Wied”.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Morris Wied whom he missed so much and who called him Bubba. He is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Krystal Wied and step-daughter, Rachel Wallace. Although they were married for a short time – they have known one another since first grade – Steven being her first little boyfriend and first kiss on the cheek. Life eventually brought them full circle and they have been able to spend and truly enjoy the last 5 ½ years together. He is also survived by his Mother, Marjorie Martin (whom he loved to tease) and husband Jack Martin, sister Lisa Wied, his Aunt Charlene Bryan, Mother-in-Law Joyce Arnold, Cousins Debbie (who he considered his 2nd sister) and Gene Brackett, Ronald Bryan, Liz Brackett with husband Brent Monk and their new son Roman.
He also leaves behind so many wonderful friends, some lifelong and some he came to know over the years. Many of you he consider family….you know who you are! He loved you all so much!!! You made his life so much better by your friendship.
Steve was, well, Extra…..with Everything!!! He loved to laugh and make those around him laugh. He was so very passionate about whatever it was at the time that caught his interest. He absolutely LOVED music, especially local talent, was a voracious reader and a collector of so many different things. He had very eclectic taste. He always had a story to tell and boy could he tell them. He enjoyed people and never missed an opportunity to make new friends wherever he went.
He and his wife’s passions were riding with friends and going to “out-in-the-middle of nowhere” places to sit and have a cold one. They loved going to the beach, fishing and flying his kites. He loved to cook and take care of his little family. He loved his pups….Dany (the spaz), Crockett (his sweet boy) and Curly, Jr. (mischief maker). They sat and loved on him these last few months and gave him great comfort.
He was a doer, never wanting to leave anything unfinished. He kept a mental list of things that needed to be done and the last few months have been so challenging for him – he just didn’t have the energy. In this life he could no longer be the man he wanted to be. Thankfully now he has gone to a place where he can do it all and never get tired or be in pain. While life is going to be hard without him, we know he is now at peace and will be watching over us all until we join him.

Kystal it is a special memory of you and Steve at my granddaughter’s wedding, both of you were so happy.
Steve was truly larger than life…. The memories with Steve are so many, and so vivid. If success in life were measured by the number of people you make as friends, and make a difference in their lives, Steve hit it out of the park! He will be missed, so much, by so many. Krystal, Marge and Lisa, and all the family, condolences, prays of support to you all.
Steve lived 3 house’s down growing up and have known each other since I was a freshmen in high school and he was 3 years younger than myself. Steve could light up a room with conversation and make people laugh. He was involved in most all of the neighborhood shenanigan’s myself and the rest of the kids in the hood got into and I will fondly remember those days. My condolences to his wife and the rest of his family. Rest easy Steve
