Sylvia Williams was born October 21, 1960, in Lake Charles, La., to Amos and Geraldine Williams. She was the seventh of nine children. She was married to Alan Sumbler on July 2nd of 1988. They moved several places during this time and finally settled in San Antonio, Texas in the year 2000.
She was preceded in her transition to heaven by her parents, her sons; Israel and Daniel Sumbler, her siblings; Micheal W. Williams and Jacqueline Paddio
She is survived by:
Husband: Alan Sumbler of 36 years of marriage
Six Sibling and their respective spouses: Constance Ford (Raleigh), Barbara Orbeaux (Michael), Cynthia Pendelton (James), Sandra Guillory (Michael), Darlene Griffin, LaShonda Sumbler (Anthony), sister-in-law Sharon Williams, brother-in-law James Paddio and stepsister Michelle Wilmore
Grandchildren: Jonathan Sumbler, Isaiah Hoillet, Joshua Bryant and Saniya E. Bell
She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews
Sylvia Sumbler, a child of God, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend. Sylvia was an example of a life well lived. She accepted Christ at an early age and made her relationship with him the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted and active member of Summit Church where she offered her support, kindness and a helping hand toward others. As a wife and a mother, Sylvia was the heartbeat of her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. She made sure that her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and she found great joy in sharing time together, whether it was celebrating holidays, enjoying simple conversations, or creating memories that will forever be treasured.
Sylvia had a deep love for gospel music and taking pictures of family and new places. The music filled her home with peace and joy. It was comfort and source of strength for her, and she often found solace in the songs that expressed her radiant smile, personality and infectious joy made her light in the lives of many. The pictures she took on every occasion or just because were a simple reminder for her that she was living life. She will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, and her unwavering faith in God.
Though she may no longer be with us, Sylvia’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our lives. May she rest in eternal peace.
