Toni Schmidt

toni schmidt

Vergie Nell (Toni) Schmidt peacefully passed away at home February 13th, 2022 at the
age of 92. Born in Thornton, TX, February 6th, 1930 to Nellie and Arthur Crabb, she was the
youngest of 11 children.

Toni enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing at the coast, and hunting in West Texas. No
matter the occasion she looked her best with lipstick on and her beautiful long nails polished to
match. She always told her daughters and their friends “never forget to act like a lady.” All
would agree she was the perfect example.

She was either Mother, Aunt Toni, Nan, Nonnie or Mrs. H.F. Schmidt III to the many who
she loved and cherished so much. She was a very special person to them all.
Toni is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 42 years, Fred and treasured
son-in-law Tommy Bronaugh. She leaves behind her beloved daughters Sharon Bronaugh,
Robyn Whitten, son-in-law Chris Whitten, and grandchildren Jaime Bronough, Aransas Gage
Whitten, and Stevie Sha Whitten.

  3. The epitome of class, Toni was the most beautiful lady I know. She was like a second mother to me and we enjoyed many hours of joyful telephone conversations in her later years. The kindest thing I remember is when she would buy Sharon something special and too pricey for my family to buy , that I admired, she would buy the same thing for me. She bought me a gorgeous big silver chain necklace from Frosts that I will never forget. I moved from the country in the third grade, and Tony and Fred took me out for my very first steak at the TEEPEE. I cherish my memories of the times she invited me along to the coast, lake and hunting lease. Sharon and I had so many fun times because Toni included me. I loved her Dearly.

  4. Aunt Toni was important to me for as long As I can remember. She never forgot my birthday in my entire life. She knew how to make a child feel loved & special. Is there a greater gift? She will be missed & forever loved.

  7. Aunt Toni was the epitome of a lady. Besides my Mother, she was the kindest, sweetest, most caring person I ever knew. She will always have a special place in my heart and I’ll always miss and love her.
