April 30, 1923 ~ April 9, 2017
Verdo Franklin County, Sr., was born to Cora Ray and Albert County in Devine, Texas on April 30, 1923. Verdo accepted Christ at an early age in Pearsal, Texas under the leadership of Rev. Roaches.
Later in his adult life he moved to San Antonio, Texas. It was during this time he met and married Nettie nation on October 29, 1951. They were the parents of nine children. He was a very supportive father. After moving to San Antonio he joined Gardendale Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John C. Wheeler. As a member he took pride in keeping the grounds of the church mowed and clean. He was a faithful member until his health began to decline. Verdo worked for the City of San Antonio for twenty five years. He enjoyed being outside and love raising his live stock. He and his wife raised eleven other children. They never turned anyone away from their home.
Our father was a loving person, if you knew him you loved him. He was the pillar of strength for his family. We never had to go outside of the family for advice, we could go to our father. He was straight and to the point and did not sugarcoat anything.
Daddy leaves to cherish his memory nine children, twenty five grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren. Also, the joy of his life, Rickey Peoples (grandson) and Zerrell "Squirell" Williams (great-grandson) along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We love you Daddy, we love you PawPaw.

Ever since I came into the County family as a friend 23 years Paw Paw welcomed me and my children with open loving arms, along with Big Mama. He advised us to call him Paw Paw just like his other family members. Once I became his daughter in law some 15 years ago his love for me became stronger. His name for me was “My Favorite Daughter-In-Law. My Father-In-Law and we were close like father and daughter. He always displayed his love and affection. Over the past 5 years every chance I got I would vist with Paw Paw and he tell stories and he would say I’m telling you some good stuff. I really loved my father-in-law. It hurts like a pain that I have never experienced before knowing he is gone. I’m going to always remember You Paw Paw. I Love You Very Dearly.

Love you Paw Paw, I’m grateful for the 3 years I had you in my life. Rest In Peace Zerrell “Squirell” Williams.
Please accept my condolences. May you find comfort in the fond memories of your loved family member. The Bible also offers words of comfort during times of bereavement. 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 states God will comfort us in all our trials.
To my Father, you always was a rock for your children. May god continue to bless you daddy. I know as soon as you hit those pearly gates, you joined hands with Mama, and you started looking for your children and you stopped and said a prayer. After your prayer your great-grandson Isaiah said “Paw Paw”. What a joyful time. John the 14. Love you daddy, Faye
