Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

William “Billy” Roy Houghtling, age 73, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. He was the devoted husband of Janice Houghtling, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Billy proudly served in the U.S. Army before embarking on a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver with Central United Van Lines. For over 37 years, he moved families from home to home, forming lasting friendships that endured long after his retirement in 2009.
In retirement, Billy cherished spending time with his wife, sons, grandchildren, and brothers. He loved relaxing at home watching his favorite shows, including Live PD, On Patrol, any cop shows and anything on the ID Channel. He always had a show being recorded. Dining out was another joy, with favorite spots including Sea Island, Bill Miller, Texas Roadhouse, Bud Jones, Whataburger and most recently Burger Boy, where he loved creating lasting memories with family.

Billy was a devoted family man, finding immense joy in watching his boys and grandchildren grow. He attended their sports events and delighted in waking his grandkids up early when they stayed over. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he enjoyed attending church with his wife, Janice, and participating in the C.F.O. Luncheon.

An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Billy cherished attending games with his brother Alan, including the last game at the old stadium and one at the new stadium. He had a ton of Cowboys items. I’m sure he is still rooting for the Cowboys from Heaven.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; sons Charles, Kenneth, and Jeffrey (Melisa); grandchildren Alexis Nichols (Dexter), Brianna Garza (Brianna), Eddie, William, and Charlie Houghtling; brother Alan Bryant; brother-in-law Larry Raute; and sisters-in-law Susan Pawelek (Frank) and Sharon Bryant (Jimmy). He was predeceased by his loving mother, Doris Bryant, and brothers Jimmy Bryant and Richard Houghtling.

Billy was a hardworking, kind, and loving soul with a grand sense of humor. Those who knew him will forever cherish the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.
