On the morning of Saturday, May 9, 2015 William T Brooks departed this life to enter an everlasting life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents Lucille Brooks Hawkins and William Tanner, Brother William Tanner, and Aunt Olivia Moody Survivors include a beloved wife of 31 years Elaine Williams-Brooks, loving children Bryan and Brandon , Sister Shirley Collins (Rodney) Brother George Whitfield Jr (Veronica), Mother-in-Law but Mom to him Liz West, Aunt Esther Swain, Sisters in law Valerie Williams(Samuel) Zina Benjamin and 1st Cousin Labertic Swain Jr. William was called by many names "Tanner" "Bullet" or "Billy" to his family and friends that loved him. He so loved his family they were always first in his life. He met his wife Elaine while she was taking a break between classes at St Philips College. They became inseparable and were married on her birthday in 1984. He was the proudest man in the world to have 2 wonderful son's that he adored. HIs wife and sons meant the world to him. Uncle Bullet was a true inspiration to his nieces Kimberly Owens , Racene Collins and Angel Benjamin and his Nephews Reggie, Chris, and Ansley Benjamin and his little man, Great Nephew Cameron (Cammy) Benjamin. And a host of Relatives and Friends. William was employed 25+ years at Fort Sam Houston and retired with honors from Civil Service in 1999. This early retirement allowed him valuable time to spend with his sons and their sports activities because William was a avid sportsman himself he excelled in Baseball, Basketball, Track and his greatest love Football.
