Berta Gonzalez Herbert

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Berta Alicia Gonzalez Herbert, who left us on March 27, 2025, at the age of 69 in San Antonio, Texas. Berta was born on August 12, 1955, in Panama City, Panama, and was a proud daughter of Pedro Paulino Gonzalez and Florencia Herbert Williams.

Berta dedicated many years of her life to the University of Panama, where she worked tirelessly, contributing her expertise and devotion to the institution. She retired 12 years ago and relocated to San Antonio, Texas, to be with her daughter and grandchildren, where she enjoyed her new chapter surrounded by her loved ones.

Berta was the cornerstone of her family — a strong, resilient woman who was well respected by everyone around her. She was always unapologetically herself, never afraid to speak her mind or stand up for what she believed in. Her fierce love for her family, her happiness, and her unwavering strength left a lasting impression on all who knew her. A hard worker, a matriarch, and a true role model, she was the pillar of her family and a guiding light for many others. She was more than a mother and grandmother — she was a second mother to many, offering guidance, support, and love to those fortunate enough to be part of her life.

She was a joyful soul, always quick to smile and laugh, and her happiness was contagious to all who crossed her path. Berta had a nurturing spirit and served as a mother figure to many, offering love, care, and wisdom to everyone around her.

In her free time, Berta enjoyed crocheting, dancing, and endlessly watching her favorite Korean dramas. These passions brought her peace and happiness, and they were a reflection of the warmth she brought to the lives of others.

Berta is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and brother, Rodolfo Herbert.

Berta leaves behind her loving daughter, Zajira S. Alleyne; son-in-law, Brian T. Wilder; grandchildren, Victor Yissac and Zasha Tyanna Gracia; sister, Siria Gonzalez Samuel; niece and nephew, Juleyma Samuel and Obdiel Gonzalez; great niece and nephew, Josiah Samuel, Cree Gonzalez, Ahvianna Gonzalez and numerous family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy of love, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty and love she so deeply treasured.

Con gran tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de Berta Alicia González Herbert, quien nos dejó el 27 de marzo de 2025 a la edad de 69 años en San Antonio, Texas. Berta nació el 12 de Agosto de 1955 en la Ciudad de Panamá, República de Panamá, y fue una orgullosa hija de sus papás Pedro Paulino González y Florencia Herbert Williams.

Berta dedicó muchos años de su vida a la Universidad de Panamá, donde trabajó incansablemente, aportando su experiencia y energía a la institución. Se retiró hace 12 años y se mudó a San Antonio, Texas, para estar con su hija y sus nietos, donde disfrutó de su nuevo capítulo rodeada de sus seres queridos.

Berta era la piedra angular de su familia: una mujer fuerte y resistente que imponía respeto a todos los que la rodeaban. Siempre fue ella misma sin remordimientos, nunca tuvo miedo de decir lo que pensaba o defender lo que creía. Su feroz amor por su familia, su felicidad y su fuerza inquebrantable dejaron una impresión duradera en todos los que la conocieron.

Trabajadora, matriarca y un verdadero modelo a seguir, fue el pilar de la familia y una luz guía para todos los que tuvieron la oportunidad de conocerla. Fue más que una madre y abuela: fue una segunda madre para muchos de nosotros; ofreciendo orientación, apoyo y amor a quienes tuvieron la suerte de formar parte de su vida.

Era un alma alegre, siempre sonriente y su felicidad era contagiosa para todos los que se cruzaban en su camino. Berta tenía un espíritu cariñoso para muchos, ofreciendo amor, cuidado y sabiduría a todos los que la rodeaban. Era muy querida por todos los que la conocieron.

En su tiempo libre, a Berta le gustaba tejer en el famoso estilo crochet, bailar, y ver series Coreanas. Estas pasiones le trajeron paz y felicidad, y eran un reflejo de la calidez que aportaba a la vida de los demás.

A Berta le preceden en la muerte sus padres, tías y su hermano, Rodolfo Herbert.

Berta deja atrás a su amada hija, Zajira S. Alleyne ,yerno, Brian T. Wilder, nietos,  Victor Yissac y Zasha Tyanna Gracia, ; hermana, Siria González Samuel; sobrinos, Juleyma Samuel y Obdiel González; sobrino nieto, Josiah Samuel, Cree Gonzalez, Ahvianna Gonzalez y y demás familiares y amigos que siempre apreciarán su memoria. Su legado de amor, fuerza y dedicación vivirá en los corazones de todos los que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla.

Que descanse en paz, rodeada de la belleza y el amor que tanto atesoraba.
