San Antonio, Texas
Wilford Wells was born on December 13, 1932 in Victoria, Texas, to the late Fred Wells and Katie Mae King Wells. He grew up as the only son, surrounded by six loving sisters. He attended Victoria High. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie Mae Flint on May 2, 1956, and they were married for sixty-four years and blessed with seven children, Rosemary, Terry, Shirley, Gayle, Gene, Alfred, and Peggy.
Wilford was a devoted member of West End Church of God in Christ, where he faithfully served as a deacon and on the finance committee for many years. From an early age he was known for his strong work ethic, kind spirit, and deep love for family. He dedicated his life to spending his career with J.P. Morgan Bank (formerly known as Highland State Bank and Texas Commerce Bank), while also working part-time at Snider for 35 years and Neal’s for 55 years.
He had a passion for gardening, fixing things around the house, watching westerns, the History Channel, wildlife programs, and sports. One of his greatest joys was traveling to Victoria, where every trip included a stop to Baytown. He also loved good food, especially menudo and barbeque.
Wilford will be remembered most for his wisdom, generosity, strength, laughter, and jokes. To his family, he was a steady foundation—always ready with guidance, encouragement, and love.
