benjamin padalecki

March 31, 1937 ~ December 17, 2025

Born in: St. Hedwig , Texas
Resided in: Kerrville, Texas

Benjamin H. Padalecki, Sr. age 88, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. A man of deep and abiding faith, Benjamin lived his life guided by his love for God, family, and community. One of his favorite stories he enjoyed sharing was as a young boy he would ride his bike to church or get called out of class to altar serve for funerals and daily Masses. His faith was also evident by his dedicated participation in A.C.T.S., by serving as a sacristan at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, and many hours spent in adoration and praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Rosary.
Affectionately known as “Benny,” he was a hardworking, self-made man and refused to let his 8th grade education hold him back from his accomplishments. He never shied away from the fact that he only had an 8th grade education because it was what he chose to trade for a full-time job to help his parents support the family. He dedicated many years of loyal service to Handy Andy Grocery Company. Beginning his career as a butcher, his strong work ethic and leadership led him to become Vice President of Meat Market Sales, a role he held with pride until his retirement.
Benny was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones. Family gatherings were especially dear to him, where he was happiest firing up the grill for his famous brisket and challenging everyone to a friendly game of dominoes. Playing in a men’s softball leagues was a favorite pastime, but bowling was one of his greatest passions—he proudly participated in an international bowling league, along with many other local leagues, for many years and always dreamed of becoming a professional bowler. He also loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, and gardening. Among his other favorite activities were bus trips to Coushatta and creating lasting memories with his wife, Beverly, and dear friends on cruise ship vacations.
Benjamin H. Padalecki, Sr. will be remembered for his faith, dedication, kindness, quick wit, and the love he shared so generously with those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Sophie; siblings, brother Nick, sister-in-law Bernice, sister Lucy, and brothers-in-law Phil and Roy. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly W. Padalecki; children, Brenda Ovenden (Malcolm), Benjamin “Butch” Padalecki, Jr. (Tricia), Michelle Frost (Brendan), Sandy Gerkin (Lanny); 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alice Wight, Clifford Padalecki (Eileen), Bernice Volkmann (Billy), Albert Padalecki (Sondra), Margie Lyro (Lyman), and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
