It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Vernita Lashell Spencer.
She was a loving Mother, Daughter, Sister and Friend. Though her time here was short, her life was filled with deep love, kindness and devotion to her family.
Vernita was born on January 12, 1982, and her loving parents were Joseph and Helen Mitchell.
Vernita met the love of her life Erik Spencer Sr. at the tender age of 16 and they shared almost 30 years of devotion to each other and their family.
Vernita was a Nurse who loved her profession and caring for her patients.
Vernita was a devoted Mother whose children were the heart of her world. She loved them deeply and unconditionally always putting their needs first and surrounding them with care, warmth and encouragement. Her love will continue to guide them every day.
She was known for her gentle spirit, her great smile, and her caring heart. She will be remembered for the love that she shared so freely with all that she came in contact with.
Vernita gave her life to Christ at an early age at Grays Chapel in San Antonio Texas. She was a member of Covenant Community Church where she allowed her faith to guide her in life. Her relationship with God dictated the way she loved her family and the way she treated others.
Vernita’s love of her life Erik B. Spencer Sr. preceded her in death. They had an unbreakable bond full of love, joy and happiness. Vernita and Erik Sr. loved their children, D’Airra, Ca’Marri, Cy’Onna, and Erik Jr. beyond measure. She will truly be missed by them.
Vernita was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Helen Mitchell, and her brother Anthony Mitchell. She is survived by her children; Brothers: Joe (Jessica) Mitchell, and Timothy Mitchell, Sisters: Cassandra Mitchell, Frances Mitchell, and Tammy Mitchell; In-Laws Odell (Peggy) James and Clarence (Shirley) Spencer; Brother in Law Marcus (Christal) Spencer; Sisters In Law, Naudia James, and Nicole James; her loving Aunts Bonnie Fisher and Carolyn Wright; Uncle Wilbert Rogers “Joe Baby”; Special Sister-cousins Shonda (Brandon) Smith, Adrianne Triggs, Stacey (Allen) Mitchell and Sondra McBride; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
