Martha Lutz, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, entered eternal rest on February 21, 2026, at the age of 74. She was born on October 29, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, to Johnnie Green I and Margie Popham Green.
From an early age, Martha accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained a faithful and devoted follower throughout her life. Her faith guided her steps, shaped her character, and was reflected in the love and kindness she extended to everyone she encountered. She was a God-fearing woman with a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Martha found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She was an incredible mother whose love knew no bounds and whose guidance provided strength and stability to her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether she was preparing a home-cooked meal, sharing stories around the table, or simply sitting and visiting, she made each gathering feel special. Her kitchen was often the heart of the home, filled with warmth, laughter, and a good card game.
Her many joys were to dance, sing, visit and play cards with her family. Her loving personality and compassionate nature left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Johnnie Green I and Margie Popham Green, her sister, Velma Talk and grandson Joshua Ryan Burgess.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her devoted husband, Thural Doug Lutz; her children, Billy Burgess and wife Michelle, Scott Burgess and wife Jennifer, Paul Thompson and wife Chastity, Darrin Lutz and wife Jo Ann and Tyrell Lutz and wife Kelley; her beloved grandchildren, Brianna, Chelsee, Austin, Lauren, Brendon, Rylee, Liliana, Madison and many other grandchildren were blessed to call her Grandma; twelve treasured great-grandchildren; her brother, Johnnie “Bubba” Green II; her sister, Ginger Porter; her lifelong friend, Skipper Ford; and a host of extended family members and dear friends. Family, to Martha, was never defined by titles. There were no in-laws or stepchildren, only love. She carried each of them in her heart, fiercely and tenderly, as her own.
Martha’s life was a testament to faith, love, and selfless devotion. Though she will be tremendously missed, her legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
