Born in: San Antonio, Texas
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Willie Jean Edwards- preferred name Jean. Loved and affectionately known as Mimi. She left our physical world to tend the gardens of Heaven with our Lord- Jesus Christ on 2/28/26.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her pride and joy, her sons- Rick (Gloria) and Doug Edwards. Her precious grandchildren- Desiree (Chris) Cortez, Clint (Ashley) Edwards and Jacob Edwards.  Extraordinary loves; great grandchildren- Rachael, Konnor, Kammie, Kailey, Loralie and Remy.

Preceded in death and heavenly reunion with parents William & Maxine Edwards; sister- Gracie Emory; brothers- Bill, Dan and Roger Edwards.

She is survived by brothers, Claude (Maxine), Cletus and Louie (Joan); sisters- Shirley, Leona, Ethel and Louise along with numerous nephews and nieces.

Jean was the 5th of 11 children, brought forth of humble beginnings. She graduated from Southside High School, where she was a Cardinals cheerleader. After marriage she was able to live in Turkey, England and New Mexico, later settling back in Converse, TX. She played recreational softball into her mid-40s and took college courses in her 60s, stressing the importance of education.

Jean worked several jobs at times to provide for her two sons and remain ferociously independent. She was a fix-it all and took pride in her lawn, known for weeding daily.

She chose the endearing name of Mimi when her first grandchild Desiree was born, followed by Clint and lastly Jacob. Adding to her joy, the great-grands. Mimi an honor she never took lightly. Creating a magical home of comfort, strength and silliness. She always seemed to know what attention was needed, as she treated each individually, according to their interest. Magic came from making something out of nothing for any occasion, whether it was sewing, telling stories, building forts for sleepovers, baking, nothing was impossible. Mimi loved sharing her love for digging in the dirt, insects, love of rocks, crystals, planting flowers with kids, lifelong memories they will treasure. Her favorite farewell saying, “I love you little, I love you big, I love you like a little pig. Oink, oink!”

Jean/Mimi was extremely protective of her family in which she had invested so much love and care. We are forever grateful.

Thank you and gratitude to Vitas Hospice Care staff at Medical Dr. for their care and support.

Special thanks to Converse Police Officer T. Frazier, for always answering “the call” with care and compassion.
