September 2, 1951 ~ May 10, 2026
Born in:
Pensacola, Florida
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Our dear Brother Ernest D. Scott is remembered as a husband, a Dad, and a brother in Christ. Brother Ernest, who was born on September 2, 1951, in Pensacola, Florida, was a “good child”, his mother has said, “He didn’t give me any problems.” Ernest is the second of six children, and the only son in his family. He met his lovely bride, Ivory J. Bowie in high school in Alaska and they married a few years later in Louisiana. After the birth of their first child he joined the United States Army. They traveled to Germany three times during his service in the military. They shared nearly 55 wonderful years of marriage to which their union was blessed with four children: Tanisha Scott, Lameta Scott, Isaiah Scott, and Nathaniel Scott, all of whom he leaves behind to cherish his memory. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for 25 years. Following his military service, he continued in service with a career as a United States Postal Worker, from which he eventually retired.
As an astute student of the bible, and later the hebrew language, he began to teach and preach the gospel faithfully for many years while in the military and beyond. He served as a pastor in Germany, and teacher in the body of Christ throughout his life. In recent years he began taking guitar lessons and gardening and he would often share the biblical lessons he learned while in the garden. He enjoyed listening to his grandchildren learn to play instruments and encouraged fine arts and the study of instruments as a means to minister to the Lord and his people.
Brother Scott, as many called him, was passionate about home bible study, home school/education, and discipleship training. He dedicated his life to proclaiming the gospel across the earth. He was a cheerful giver of his time, his resources and very often had a fitting “life story” to accompany the messages he intended to convey.
Brother Scott is survived by his loving wife, Ivory J Scott of 55 years, his mother, Bernice G. Williams; his cherished grandchildren, Erika, Robert, Jr., Micah, Tobias, Benjamin, Nicole, Byron, Nehemiah, Nathaniel, Jr., Natalie, Jeremiah, Jacob, Dominic, Jolie, Yoseph,Yoshiyahu, Yehu; his great grandchildren, Ezra, Moriah, and Athena. He is survived by four of his five sisters, Elaine Bowen, SherryAnn Lewis, Donalisa Scott, and Denise Altheimer. Brother Scott was preceded in death by his father, Edward Scott, Jr.; his sister, Kathy Livingston; and his great-grandbaby, Brielle Slaughter
