MSG Ernest D. Scott
September 2, 1951 ~ May 10, 2026
Born in:
Pensacola, Florida
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Our dear Brother Ernest D. Scott is remembered as a husband, a Dad, and a brother in Christ. Brother Ernest, who was born on September 2, 1951, in Pensacola, Florida, was a “good child”, his mother has said, “He didn’t give me any problems.” Ernest is the second of six children, and the only son in his family. He met his lovely bride, Ivory J. Bowie in high school in Alaska and they married a few years later in Louisiana. After the birth of their first child he joined the United States Army. They traveled to Germany three times during his service in the military. They shared nearly 55 wonderful years of marriage to which their union was blessed with four children: Tanisha Scott, Lameta Scott, Isaiah Scott, and Nathaniel Scott, all of whom he leaves behind to cherish his memory. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for 25 years. Following his military service, he continued in service with a career as a United States Postal Worker, from which he eventually retired.
As an astute student of the bible, and later the hebrew language, he began to teach and preach the gospel faithfully for many years while in the military and beyond. He served as a pastor in Germany, and teacher in the body of Christ throughout his life. In recent years he began taking guitar lessons and gardening and he would often share the biblical lessons he learned while in the garden. He enjoyed listening to his grandchildren learn to play instruments and encouraged fine arts and the study of instruments as a means to minister to the Lord and his people.
Brother Scott, as many called him, was passionate about home bible study, home school/education, and discipleship training. He dedicated his life to proclaiming the gospel across the earth. He was a cheerful giver of his time, his resources and very often had a fitting “life story” to accompany the messages he intended to convey.
Brother Scott is survived by his loving wife, Ivory J Scott of 55 years, his mother, Bernice G. Williams; his cherished grandchildren, Erika, Robert, Jr., Micah, Tobias, Benjamin, Nicole, Byron, Nehemiah, Nathaniel, Jr., Natalie, Jeremiah, Jacob, Dominic, Jolie, Yoseph,Yoshiyahu, Yehu; his great grandchildren, Ezra, Moriah, and Athena. He is survived by four of his five sisters, Elaine Bowen, SherryAnn Lewis, Donalisa Scott, and Denise Altheimer. Brother Scott was preceded in death by his father, Edward Scott, Jr.; his sister, Kathy Livingston; and his great-grandbaby, Brielle Slaughter

My Dear Brother Scott

What a man of God…
What a humble man…
What a generous man…
What a purpose-driven man…
What a beautiful expression of the love of God…
I first met this man of God
when I had strayed away from my Lord’s side
Like Peter, I had denied Him
And was not following my Lord closely
But I was following Him afar off
And in His mercy, my Lord
Sent this man of God to my door
In this humble, gentle servant
I heard the Lamb’s voice once again
And I knew then, I was not cast off forever
The kindness, the rebuke, the correction
The holy boldness, the love, the grace
All wrapped up in a body of flesh and blood,
Of bone and sinew, of spirit and soul
This was Brother Scott to me
At that time, He was Yah’s mouthpiece to me
Calling me from the abyss of ruin
At that time, He was Yah’s hands to me
Saving me from the land of darkness
This was Brother Scott to me
How beautiful are the feet of them
that preach the gospel of peace
My dear Brother Scott was a walking sermon
The law of love was written in his heart
Known and read of all men
He was an oasis in the desert of this vain life
A deep well of wisdom and of the water of life
He loved to learn the story of a person
And when he shared his wisdom, he would often
Recall these stories that he learned
Years ago, he mentioned that he was laid up in the hospital
He had a transplant and seventy-three weeks of chemotherapy
He thought he was on the way out of here then,
But he regained strength when his grandchildren came to visit
He said, “I heard God was a healer, but now I know He’s a healer.”
One time I gave him the meaning of
the African names I chose for myself
And he spit a few words in Kiswahili with some flow
And I had to let him know,
“I don’t speak the language my brother.”
He was a man full of the holy spirit and wisdom
He would speak to me about Hebraic things like
The paleo Hebrew characters and the Hebrew language,
The syncretism of this world juxtaposed
to the Jewish calendar of feast days
Behold how good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity
I just felt a oneness and a kindred spirit with this dear brother
Even when we didn’t agree, it was still pleasant
We were both respectful and careful not to offend one another
The last few conversations I had with my beloved Brother Scott
Was in regard to ‘Who is the God of the Bible?’
On the subject of the Godhead we didn’t agree,
though we both rejected the trinity
I had many things to learn and many more things to unlearn
He sent me a book entitled,
“Is Jesus in the Godhead or Is the Godhead in Jesus?”
Our conversations on this subject caused me to embark
on a spiritual journey which lasted over two years
During this time, I excavated the Scriptures as I never had before
I began to write him a letter on the things I had discovered
I called him once during this time, but he must have been busy
And said he would get back to me…
But he gave up the ghost in the meantime…
I was on page 26 of the letter I was writing…
I learned a valuable lesson about time management
And the fleeting nature of this life, which is as a vapor
I must trust in the Providence of Yah
Knowing that all things work together for good
To them who love God and are called according to His purpose
I am resolved to the fact that our conversations
Would have to be continued after the resurrection of life
I hope to see my dear brother again at the coming of Christ
When we shall be caught up together to meet Him in the air
And so shall we ever be with the Lord…
To the family of my dear Brother Scott:
Precious in the sight of Yah is the death of His saints.
I pray that the Father, the God of all comfort,
May comfort you in this time of bereavement
